From the Publisher

Praise for Bluford High:

“The Bluford novels have been wildly popular with young readers across the country and continue to entice reluctant readers. . . . The books are well written, treat the problems of inner-city youth with respect, and avoid easy answers to the challenges that kids face today.” –James Blasingame, Associate Professor of English Education at Arizona State University, coeditor of The ALAN Review

Here's what teens are saying about Bluford High:

“As soon as I finished one book, I couldn't wait to start the next one. No books have ever made me do that before.” –Terrance W.

“Once I started reading them, I just couldn't stop, not even to go to sleep.” –Brian M.

“When I finished these books, I went back to the beginning and read them all over again. That's how much I loved them.” –Caren B.

The book is about a 16 year old boy named Martin and how he has to deal with everything thats going around him. martin has to deal with gang problems and his brother Huero being dead. He wants to get the person who killed his brother because he wants that person to pay for what they did. Also martin is a boy who gets in a lot of trouble in school. His mom had to move him to bluford high school because his mother wanted to give him a better life. When he stars going to that school he starts getting in a lot of problems and trouble. At that same school he meets a girl named vicky he reallly likes her and she likes him back but they have to deal with a lot of problems. If you want to know how this story ends you have to read The Fallen!

Amazing Novel This is a great book. Its filled with romance and drama. This book reflects on real life and things that can actually happen. In this novel the Teresa was my favorite character, because I can really relate to her in so many ways. This book started out getting good towards the middle of the first chapter. I think the author of this book is trying to tell children to not be so ignorant and fight over little petty things to get yourself put out of school, but although this is a pretty good novel to I suggest you read it.

Martin is a junior at Bluford High, one of few Latinos in the school. He struggles with anger management but is unwilling to verbalize the cause of his anger. When he finds out the bullet that killed his younger brother was meant for someone else, he vows revenge. Will he be able to evade the bully, Frankie, and still carry out the violent act he has planned? Langan tells the story of an urban youth in conflict, with no one to turn to (in the protagonist's mind). Teens relate to the characters; this series is one of the most popular in my middle school. Highly recommended.

I read The Fallen by Paul Langan. It is a great book. It is about a boy from the hood (Martin) who has his old friend frankie after him after him. Frankie has a gun and is the best meanest fighter in the whole city. So Martin makes a desprete choce will it save him or kill him.
