Jeannie Nelworth is as human a mother and heroine as can be found. She faces fears with a shield of sunny optimism and hides the burden of pain from too much loss. Firefighter Chad Owen has his own pain to hide and recognizes other hurting souls in Jeannie and her son, Nick, who have lost more than their home in a fire. Chad and Jeannie’s interactions are poignant and beautifully written. But it is also Chad’s growing love and empathy for Nick that makes this story so special. More than a keeper, Falling for the Fireman is a classic.
