Meet the Author

S.L. Naeole has always loved the smell of books, the feel of books, and the destination that a book is guaranteed to take you. She knew from an early age that she was meant to write, to create those very same books she loved so much and vowed that one day, she would. Now, after getting married and starting a family, she has finally made her dream come true. As the author of Falling From Grace, she's found a venue with which to allow her dreams to become the reader's, and transport them to worlds and lives where fantasy and reality blend seamlessly. With several more books in the works, including three sequels to Falling From Grace, she's hoping to give to her fans the same desire and affection for the written word that she had as a child. S.L. Naeole writes from her home in Hawai'i, with her husband, four children, and cat by her side cheering her on and providing endless amounts of inspiration.

I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am to see this on B&N for the nook. I had to read it on the Kindle for PC, but it was such a great story that I tolerated it. I loved the characters, I loved the fact that this isn't a story about the popular pretty girl who everybody falls in love with, and I especially loved that she's different in ways that everyone can relate to without being so different that she's unreachable. Her relationship with Robert was so real I actually started to talk about them like I knew them. It's not perfect. It's not the happy-go-lucky, I love you so we can do whatever kind of relationship. I like that the author made the angel flawed in ways that both separated him from humans but also brought him closer to them. This isn't a fallen angel story, which I liked a lot. The sequel, Bird Song, is even better, which is really difficult to do, but this author managed to pull it off. I can't wait for the next book and find out what happens between Grace and Robert and every other character in the series!!

I got these books for Christmas and read them in a week, living on cheesesticks and some soda. When I came out, my hair looked like it could eat Godzilla and you could see my smell. I scared the living bejeesus out of everyone and missed a job interview in favor of these. It was totally worth it.

There's nothing but love in me for this book. I can't tell you how awesome it is without using up every single ounce of server space so just read it and fall in love with Grace, Robert, and learn about angels in a way you've never imagined.

This series has quickly become my favorite YA series. This author keeps you coming back for more. "Falling from Grace" is book one, in what is at the moment a set of three. Grace is not your average girl in the town in which she lives. She is Korean and has always been an outcast and labeled as a freak after a devastating accident that leaves her mother dead. Her senior year begins poorly. Her best friend abandons her after a confession of her feelings. This leaves her in a situation of more ridicule at school. Then for some reason a new student comes and is drawn to her. As their paths continue to become more entwined together, his intentions towards her are not entirely clear. Does he care for her or are there darker forces at work. This is only the beginning of Grace's adventures. I would suggest purchasing this book along with the second "Bird Song" . The third adventure, "Black Halo" is due to be released soon. This book will not disappoint and worth every penny!

This is a young adult supernatural novel with a slight twist. Rather than vampires, werewolves, or zombies, this supernatural being is a real live angel. And for some reason this smoking hot heavenly being is drawn to super-freak Grace Shelley. I couldn’t help making comparisons between the characters Grace and Robert with Bella and Edward from Twilight. Bella is awkward, wafishly thin, and so not girly. Ditto for Grace. Bella is also smart, lives with her Dad in a modest home, and is fiercely independent. Ditto for Grace. Edward has been around for a VERY long time. He is beautiful and rich and lives with his family of vampires. Ditto for Robert—only his family consists of angels. Edward must deal with his jealousy stemming from the affections of Jacob toward Bella. Robert must deal with his jealousy stemming from Grace’s relationship with Graham, the hot football star that has been her best friend since childhood. So, yes, there are definite similarities. But Falling From Grace stands well all on its own. Grace is full of teenage angst which is only intensified by the fact that her mother died when Grace was only seven years old. This has a tremendous effect on her and defines much about her personality. One thing that got to me is Grace’s obstinacy. At times I just wanted to shake her for being so hard-headed and self-protective. She constantly pushes Robert to his limits. Robert, on the other hand, is like no angel I’ve ever learned about. For one, he doesn’t have wings or a halo. He has dark hair and silver eyes and drives a motorcycle. He likes girls and enjoys engaging in some not-so-saintly activities. He does have supernatural powers, which I would expect an angel to have. But he also displays some very human emotions, which is again, surprising. Despite wanting to knock some sense into Grace a time or two, I enjoyed how the story unfolded. I liked seeing how Grace and Robert’s relationship progressed and how she handled other challenges like her rocky relationship with Graham, the prospect of a step-mother, and dealing with her arch nemesis, Erica. I felt like Grace, Robert, and Graham all grew from their experiences. I would certainly recommend this book for those of you who enjoy supernatural young adult novels. It was a nice change from vampires and witches. And certainly will make you think of angels just a little bit differently.

Falling from Grace intrigued me and I had high hopes for the book. Unfortunately it was a bit of a letdown. The book was very slow to build and the story seemed to drag on a bit. I would have liked the book better if there was not the constant reminder on every other page of just how gorgeous the boyfriend was and how unattractive the main character was. I got it the first 500 pages. If you can get past the slow build up to any action, the depressing lack of self esteem of Grace and the length, then it is an okay read. The theme of the story is fun.
