False Accusations is a twisting psychological thriller, a tale of deadly revenge where the assurance of "innocent until proven guilty" is not what it seems.

Dr. Phillip Madison has everything: wealth, power, and an impeccable reputation. But in the pre-dawn hours of a quiet California suburb, the revered orthopedic surgeon is charged with double homicide—a cold blooded hit-and-run that has left an innocent young couple dead. Blood evidence has brought the police to his door. An eyewitness has placed him at the crime scene...and Madison has no alibi. With his family torn apart, his career forever damaged, no way to prove his innocence and facing life in prison, Madison hires an investigator to find the person who has engineered the case against him.

As his privileged world is brought crashing down by a psychotic seductress, as family and friends abandon him, Madison's only hope for vindication rests in revealing a truth at the heart of a lie. It's a disclosure that could cost him more than he ever imagined.

False Accusations is a psychological thriller that instantly became a National Bestseller and launched Alan Jacobson’s career, a novel that spurred CNN to call him, “One of the brightest stars in the publishing industry.”

Editorial Reviews

Book Reviewer
Jacobson keeps the plot in perpetual motion...Unnervingly plausible... It's enough to make the average Joe paranoid.
John Saul
Alan Jacobson has crafted a riveting story with a truly frightening villainess. This is a terrific book!

Meet the Author

Don't let that scary author photo fool you--I'm really a nice guy. Okay, so I'm from New York, and some people from New York are a bit rough and tough, but what's wrong with that? Since I've now lived on the left coast almost half my life, I have a blended personality that's sometimes at odds with itself. So I'm a little schizophrenic. I talk to myself, argue with myself. (Is that a problem for you? Tough.)

See, that's what I mean. But here's where it can be a plus: I've channeled my New York half into my main character, Karen Vail, the first female FBI profiler. Vail debuted in The 7th Victim, and she returns in the follow-up novels Crush, Velocity, and the forthcoming thriller, Inmate 1577. Crush is set in the Napa Valley, where Vail goes for a vacation following a rousing chase and shooting in front of the White House. Napa's a great place to relax and kick back, but the Crush Killer has other plans. And, damnit, that kind of spoils Vail's trip. Velocity picks up where Crush leaves off...and let's just say Vail is in the kind of mood where you don't want to meet her in a dark alley. Velocity is as "relentless as a bullet," according to Michael Connelly, and it was given top honors on a number of "best of 2010" lists.

So lots of authors write about serial killers and FBI profilers, right? What gives me the creds to join that list? After all, the basic tenet of writing ingrained in all writers is to "write what you know." Well, back in 1994 when I returned to writing (after my chiropractic career was cut short), I knew nothing about profiling. Zip. But as fate would have it, while researching False Accusations at the Department of Justice's crime lab, I met an FBI agent who was on the waiting list for promotion to the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). We hit it off, stayed in touch, and a short time later he got the promotion. He invited me out to tour the FBI Academy and profiling unit--and thus began my education. Seven years later, after multiple trips to the BAU and countless hours upon hours of conversations with my friend and his profiler partner, I felt I owned the material well enough to begin writing The 7th Victim.

My suppressed New York upbringing emerged in the persona of Karen Vail--the sarcasm, the "attitude," the "Oh, yeah? I'll show you" sense of challenge.... And Karen Vail burst from the pages.

    False Accusations

I thought this book was fabulous. I could hardly put it down and even though I had a gut feeling about how it would end, was still caught off guard as I read the last page. I had to keep reading and was still shocked by the last page. It is definitely worth reading for those who enjoy a good suspenseful mystery.

    False Accusations

This book was very absorbing.. It was difficult to put down because it was so very suspenseful. The ending was a total surprise, and you really don't get the full impact of the book until the very last sentence... Would love to read more of this type of book. Keep them coming!.

    Good story with a twist

Although i enjoyed the story the editing was so bad it was distracting. Bad grammar, wrong words, typos and misspelling run rampant throughout the book . One almost constant mistake was replacing the word corner with comer

    Not very convincing

The book started out interesting, but when it got to the trial it went downhill. It got so repetitive and flat, that I started skipping sntences and paragraphics. I had a feeling about the ending otherwise the plot was too simple. So the story, and especially the ending was not very believable. This writer has potential, but right now does not compare to John Grissom.

    Absolutely ridiculous ending!

I am addicted to thrillers, and this one kept me up till 1 and 2 a couple of mornings. It is the fourth book I've read of Alan Jacobson. But the ending of this book came out of nowhere, and was not even logical or believable. A horrible, senseless crime was committed at the beginning of the book, and it does not tie into the plot at all! The ending spoiled the book for me. I regret that I spent the money to buy this and I don't know if I will ever read this author again. There are a lot better writers out there!

    SUPER

I picked this book up at my local library and didn't pick it up again for a week. When I finally started it I just couldn't put it down. Looking forward to the next one! I finished it in just 4 hours! Just great!

    Boring

Flat, weak characters saturated with awkward and unnatural dialog. Tremendous overuse of cliches throughout. Opening set-up of plot was very good, then the story soon lost all suspense and mystery. I recommend this book as a reference to other authors on how not to write a novel.

    Suspenceful but......

Thought the last sentence ending left alot of "unexplained" things. Which I wasn't crazy about.

    Dear Alan:

I'm afraid that as much as I hate to do this, I am going to have to sue you for Alienation of Work Ethic. No matter that I'd read this before and I knew how it ended, I still couldn't put it down. The twists and turns you manage to put in the way of any logical guess work on your readers part started with your first book and has continued through this one and into and through all of the Karen Vail books. (Note to new readers ~ don't miss those, they are fantastic!)

Now that I've turned the last page and can no longer ignore the fact that I've ignored my reality for far too long and that no matter how much I want to open The 7th Victim again, I know I have to find my Work Ethic somewhere. So, it's back to work for me and for anyone reading this 'review', drop whatever you are doing and treat yourself to any and all of Alan Jacobson's impossible to put down books! They could be the best gift you give yourself this holiday season!

PS: Don't leave me alone with nothing to do but what has to get done, please get your next book into the stores soon! Thanks Alan!

    Weak and sloppy

Typos, poor editing (in one scene Catherine takes a drink of her iced tea and a few sentences later it is wine). Simple, ineffective plot and extremely weak characters. Too many red herrings and terrible denouement. Also, book originally published before some product placement editing for ebook (i.e. Coke Zero). Too bad energy inserting ads not spent on integrity of book!

    C Unbelievable ending

Wow. Just finished this book and I could not put it down. It definitely had me turning the pages and wanting to find out what was going on. I would be trying to focus on work and thinking of the next time I could read a few more pages.

    Loved it!

This was a great book.Hard to put down. I could not decide who I thought "did it". The wife, disgruntled employee, the doctor... I did not figure it out until the last sentence!

    grrr!

Books like this make me flat-out mad. Predictable, sloppy, and the author thinks he is clever trying to put a twist the reader could see coming a mile away, in the next-to-last sentence??!? I want the two hours of my life i wasted on this book BACK!

Read it and see for yourself

I usually post good reviews about books that I read, and I read ALL of Alan jackobson's books. All of them were fabulous - but I am not saying that False Accusations is bad. I was just so caught up in the book, so looking forward to the end that... at the end I felt like a punctured balloon... I was expecting that maybe it was someone else who did the bad deed, or what, and as I read the last sentence, I was not sure if my book was missing a few chapters. The book is good - but the ending... see for yourself
