This book will help the novice to identify birds in Oregon, Washington and British Columbia with great accuracy. The book covers sea birds, suburban, mountain, desert and forest birds. The paintings are quite helpful because you learn to look for the 'type' of bird, rather than trying to match the bird feather-for-feather to a photograph. The information includes habitat, food, migration, calls, population gains/losses, and in some cases, the origin of the bird. The size makes it easy to carry and easy to keep next to your binoculars on the window sill. It is comprehensive and very easy to use. This has been one of my favorite gifts to give people, along with a bird feeder to hang in their backyard.
