Every family is different and that is ok. Nico, an adopted girl, who at first pays little attention to how she looks different than her parents; but over time she begins to see how her friends look like their parents. This book is a perfect read aloud to introduce my All About Me writing unit. In addition, topics such as adoption, family structure and working through the feelings of looking different are eloquently captured. The message Families Are Different, sends will touch every family no matter the family make-up…because as Pellegrini states: “Families are glued together with a special kind of glue called love.”Was this review helpful? This book is great for children from families that are less traditional!
It is also a great book for children from families that are more traditional. It can teach those children about diversity and love as well, which is important and also might help them when they come across a non-traditional family.

I picked up this book for a class assignment and fell in love with it, it is a very cute book about different families, and helps children feel better about their own family. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
