This 557 page nook book was very good. It is for adult readers. There is explicit sexual content and situations. It was well written, edited and had great characters. There was a great flow to the story line. It was easy to follow the characters and action and was just complicated enough to hold my interest without being over whelming. I often have to lay a book down and a long period may pass before I can continue my current reading project. With this book, I did not have to do any back tracking, I was able to start reading exactly where I left off, which was very nice. It was a bit predictable in places, but had some surprizes as well. This was not a typical romance. It was about a man in a loveless marriage, torn between two families and two ways of life. When he is killed in an auto accident, his daughter unravels her father's life to discover who he really was. In the process she also discovers, who she is and where her destiny will be. This a great heart warming novel.

One family wasn't enough for this man, but he probably didn't expect things to turn out quite as they did when he was in a fatal auto accident one snowy night. There are some unexpected twists and turns in this story, and I was very surprised by the ending.

This was a great book! This is the first book I’ve read from the author, and I love her writing. The characters are developed very well and it was interesting to read how Mary balances the characters with the plot, without making the book too bogged down with details. While there are moments where the storyline is unrealistic, the issues of family secrets, alliances, and expectations, readers will certainly understand those family dynamics. The story is about 500+ pages, but it sure does go fast!

A FAMILY AFFAIR takes your traditional family ideals and twists it about so that you can’t help but admit that family is determined by more than DNA. Mary Campisi draws the reader into this story by invoking a variety of emotions, everything from fury and disappointment to genuine love and acceptance and incorporating enough suspenseful elements that I read the entire story in one sitting. The tension between Nate and Christine is completely understandable since he’s trying to protect his family and Christine is doing the same for hers. One of the things that unite them is Lily and her easy acceptance of them. I really hadn’t expected this story to be such an emotional journey and honestly I think a lot of its appeal has to do with Lily and the innocent way she views life and the people around her.
The whole time Christine’s trying to come to grips with her father’s death and the reality of another family, there’s a whole other drama unfolding in her normal life. And I don’t say drama lightly because it seems her mother really likes to be theatrical when it comes to manipulating her family. Fortunately Uncle Harry sees right through her and isn’t above using a bit of blackmail to keep her in line.
Mary Campisi’s A FAMILY AFFAIR is a delightful story that pulls at the heartstrings with its intriguing characters, stunning revelations, and an emotional rollercoaster as the two halves of Charles’ life collide in a ferocious upheaval. Of course, he’s deceased so isn’t there to witness the havoc his decisions have caused.

What a wonderful FREE book.
The story line is strong, thought provoking with an interesting plot. I felt connected to the characters as they came off as very real. I did not feel that the profanity/sex was excessive. The epilogue left a couple things in the balance, but I was still satisfied with it. A sequal would be amazing. 558 pages. Buy it now before Mary Campisi realizes people would pay for this book!!

A very poignant story about families.Just like real life, families can be dysfunctional in their own ways. What you see and perceive is not always the truth.

From beginning to end, this book is amazing! Each character brings scandal, love, and purpose to entire story. Some adult content but it is appropriate in the story telling.

Life is full of surprises. The key to happiness is how you handle them. Christine thought everything in her life was fine until her dad's unexpected death. Her life becomes an emotional rollercoaster as she searches for answers and what she finds changes her whole world. This 548 page book is wonderfully written and will make you laugh and cry.

Hard to believe that this was a free book. I enjoyed reading it. I don't get to read very much, but this year during Thanksgiving break I was able to read this book in only 2 days. I couldn't put it down.
