I have assigned Powell & Cassidy's book as the required textbook for two courses: an undergraduate class in Family Life Education (University of North Texas) and a graduate class in Teaching Family Sciences (Texas Woman's University). While this text is not a graduate-level textbook, I considered it an essential reading for the graduate course. It is excellent example of how FLE content knowledge should be presented to pre-professional undergraduate students. The book presents practical advice and explanation for working with families. Topics are repeatedly related to the content areas recommended by the National Council on Family Relations. One of the authors, Dawn Cassidy, directs the National Council's program of Certified Family Life Educators. I recommend this book as a textbook for parenting and family professionals and pre-professionals. Mary Bold, Ph.D., CFLEWas this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
