This is a most helpful and informative book! I ran across it when I was looking for information on lowering MY high cholesterol. I found what I came for and much more. This book takes you through the body's basics but also explains in simple terms the body's intricate workings on a molecular level. 'The Family Nutrition Book' also gives you understandable information on the hot topics in the health headlines such as healthy vs. unhealthy fats (including clear info on cholesterol), vitamin functions, fiber hows and whys, grains, soy, etc. There is comprehensive coverage of all the food groups and gives the reader good explanations and practical applications for improving their health. All the information is easily applicable with just the basics and, although the authors mention a couple of products they personally enjoy, they stay away from adding quacky, 'you have to buy THIS product to be healthy' information. Information on important health issues and the effects of nutrition on them is also included. 'The Family Nutrition Book' is a great reference book and and easy read.
