Lift the veils from your eyes and pay attention!

Russ Baker has done phenomenal research to pull together documented accounts of the Bush family's involvement in government, CIA, business, international dealings, Hoover, JFK, Watergate, 911, Nixon, Iraq, 2000/2004 elections, (is there a difference?) and other events and policies over the last 100 years. Any reader with less than a 160 IQ (not me), will need pages of flow charts to follow the people, connections, events, conversations, documents and relationships that Baker lays out in a fashion that cannot be disregarded as another conspiracy theory. To focus on a "conspiracy" for any event is to miss the point entirely. In some case, events were created to "look" like a conspiracy to act as a diversion from the truth.

Baker's unrelenting commitment to ferreting out and checking out the truth is no less than awesome. His delivery is articulate, his commitment is courageous and patriotic. This is not just about the Bush family. This book is a humbling revelation of that way it is, and has been for a very long time. This is the "shadow government" at work.

John Dean's "Worse than Watergate" tried to scratch the surface but came off as little more than a rant. I think he had a breath of an idea of what he was involved in but it was not articulated well. Valerie Plame's "Fair Game" began to peel the cover off the the way the "government" really works. Her work and patriotism is to be deeply honored and respected. Russ Baker picked it up where Ms. Plame leaves off is about as subtle as a cream pie in the face with historical facts, documents and tying it all together. I know of no other journalist with this degree of courage and intelligence.

My personal revelations after reading this have resounded like a deep bell in my soul: The ¿Bush¿ family that we see, the government figures that we see, are like the fruiting bodies of a ¿mushroom organism¿. The real organism is deep, broad and has its web spread unseen in the darkness, its fingers and tendrils in everything. We only see the occasional manifestation of it to know that something exists, but to focus on what we see, is to completely miss the deeper workings. G.W. is no dummy, (just lazy, et al, as Russ Baker points out) but he has been a ¿shill¿ to divert our attention elsewhere. He may easily go down in history as the worst president ever, but that was his roll to play and he played it very, very well, just as Poppy¿s roll was to play the mild-mannered, soft spoken person that nobody seemed to really pay much attention to. He came in on the heals of the ¿charismatic¿ R.Reagan and was able to glide through the next 4 years spoon feeding the public pablum. They both played their parts extremely well.

Don't read this book if you want restful sleep at night. On the other hand, read it, do your own confirming research, lest we not continue to have the veils pulled over our eyes.

A must read....full of shock, awe, and I thought so.

Family of Secrets is a well written and researched account of the andestine involvement the CIA, the Bush seniors, oil and land interests, and more have influenced the economy, military, leadership, and decision-making in the USA, as well as, the power used to influence change outside the USA for the benefit of a few. The information on JFK's assassination alone is fascinating.

If the book is accurate, it is amazing how people with low abilities can be placed or elected to high positions of government by powerful self serving groups.

Bush the crook

This book has more info than most regular people will ever know. This quiet snake of a family have quietly been dismanteling this country for profit for years and should be in prison. It shows just how corrupt this country is and why we are hated in the world. They are the ministers of Goldman Sachs and this country is on the verge of self distruction. This country will be defeated from within.

Some Bush Family Secrets Left Hidden

The author provides some new insight into the Bush Family secrets,but leaves others untouched. Baker fails to even remotely discuss the rumored extra-marital affair(s) of Poppy Bush. And, while he touches upon Barbara's failure to attend her mother's funeral, there is no mention of what she and Poppy did to occupy their time the day their first daughter was buried. And what about the large amount of speaking fees Barbara has received for her "canned" twenty minute presentation. And one has to wonder why the author offers little, if any, insight into the life of Jeb Bush. While Baker can be commended for the information he provides the reader, there was so much more he left hidden.

A must read -- the story behind the story of the making and abuses of power.

Russ Baker, a longtime investigative journalist, has produced one of the most important works about political malfeasance in decades. Baker poses fundamental questions (how could mediocre politicos become the top elected official in the U.S.?), follows myriad leads and trails into remote places, which remarkably, have not been identified or pieced together, including terrain that has been well mined. Remarkable in its scope, Baker uncovers the years of malfeasance, which as Webster defines as, "injurious," "doing ill," "evil conduct," and "illegal deeds" on a monumental scale that makes all before it appear to be child's play.

A stellar work, that is well documented (over 1,000 foot notes with named sources), highly informed, measured, lucid, witty, compelling. The book is an important intervention that will surely have lasting consequences, the beginnings of which we¿re just now seeing.

A timely antidote to the Bushwacking we've all been taking.

An invaluable peek behind the curtain of Bush's devious and misleading "Perception Management" campaign. Baker, at long last, exposes the dark alliance that has emerged as the power behind the throne.

For readers who are not looking for reinforcement of the self-serving "news" rendition of events that have shaped public opinion with respect to presidential politics over the last four decades, Russ Baker's new book Family of Secrets is sure to stimulate. Baker unearths telling new information throughout the book that causes us to challenge the party line explainations that have never quite passed the "sniff" test. Whether you agree with his conclusions or not, this book provides background on the people, organizations and events that have shaped the Presidency of the United States since Kennedy and are positioned to influence Obama and others yet to come. A MUST read.

This is a great book. I have not put it down. It is a must read for anyone who wants to understand what is happing in the contury today.

Who'd A Thunk???

For many years of "Bush Reign" I sensed what many felt, the agenda was not in mine or America's best interest. This book explains much of the "why, when, where, and how".
At times this read made me angry, and there were times I became enraged.!
If one cares enough to understand just why we're where we are at today I whole heartedly recommend this book.

Same old stuff

If you are looking for a serious, historical, objective, un-biased look at Bush this may not the book for you. Save your money and go to Russ Baker's web-site and read his articles that he's been penning on Bush all of these years for free. Same old stuff, nothing new. To me it's all an overview of his work from The Village Voice, LA Times, The Nation, and so on. A worn out subject.

Shocking details

This book was very powerful and shocking in the details. It's extremely thorough and at times can be overwhelming in trying to digest the information but a very interesting book about the Bush family.
