"Coffee's here, love." A firm hand on her shoulder brought her awake.

"Mm-hmm." Lynn Edwards gave in to the prodding of her lover, the esteemed Professor of English, Benjamin Tallmadge Effingham. Still sleepy, she roused enough to prop herself against the massive oak headboard of his king-size featherbed.

He wrapped her hands around a warm mug of coffee. "Drink up. You have class in less than an hour."

"I've got your class in less than an hour."

"And you know how I appreciate the prompt, prepared student."

She drew him closer with a tug on his perfectly knotted tie and gave him her most inviting smile. "Almost as much as you appreciate the energetic, limber student."

"True enough," he said, tickling her ear with his mustache. "Enjoy your coffee." He slipped from her grasp to restore the knot to pristine condition. "Be on time."

"And my manuscript?"

"On the table by the back door. We'll discuss it after class."

    Nice little mystery

It might be going too far to call this a mystery since you know whodunit from the first few pages, but I enjoyed seeing it work itself out. A short story with a beginning, middle, and end. I really liked the slightly quirky, amusing end.

    very concise

I generally dislike short stories. too much info not enough time. not this time, brilliantly wittled to a sharp point. very Hitchcocky

Too short! Quirky tale of haunting revenge

This has the potential of a great story. Because it is so short, it doesn't have the depth needed to make it. It mimics Hitchcock in its allure though.

I'd like to see a real book by this author.

    Decent / Quick Read.

Nice for a five-minute read. Very predictable, but not horribly written. You pretty much know what's going to happen right after the first two pages. In that way it was a little of a let down.
    Spoiler:
One complaint of mine, however, is that the writer does insert herself at a character (which itself would not be too bad) and "toots her own horn," by stating that she is "...the most promising young writer she'd seen in twenty years." To me, it was something of a turn off as far as looking into her works in the future. She is a decent writer, I do believe. However, I also put worth in a thing called tact.

    Revenge is sweet!

If it was me doing the haunting, I wouldn't have waited so long for my revenge. Short and sweet....a good story.

    Not worth it.

It would have been a better book if it had more than 20 pages. The best part of the book is going towards the end, plus some of it is confusing. Even though it's a free book, it's not worth it. If you like paranormal stories this is for you then but NOT for me.
