Purpose: The purpose is to update and translate the ever changing body of knowledge in neonatal medicine. It incorporates recent evidence-based information into current clinical advice for neonatologists. The outstanding group of well respected authors in the field of neonatology has done a great job with this update.
Audience: The target audience is neonatal physicians, fellows, and nurse practitioners. Anyone who spends time caring for critically ill infants would appreciate and benefit from this book.
Features: The book discusses the pathophysiology of disease processes in neonatal/perinatal medicine, stressing evidence-based management strategies. The text is complemented by excellent tables, charts, and color pictures. The online searchable version is a nice feature that allows users to access the information while on the go from an office or the NICU. The international authors add a global perspective.
Assessment: This is an outstanding edition of an already accepted core textbook in neonatology. It is aesthetically appealing, and the authors do not disappoint with their content. With this ever-changing field, the updated edition is a welcome resource for any practicing neonatologist.
