Is Nancy's Favorite Doll Ruined Forever?

Fancy Nancy's sister, JoJo, can really be a pest sometimes . . . like when she put Easter-egg dye in the kiddie pool and dunked Frenchy in it! But this time she's done something really bad, and Nancy is livid—that's fancy for très angry and upset. JoJo drew a tattoo on Nancy's precious doll, Marabelle Lavinia Chandelier! Even worse, it's in permanent marker . . . that means it will never come out! When Mom suggests a fancy doll party to make Nancy feel better, Nancy is excited to accept. But what if the doll drama isn't over?

From bestselling team Jane O'Connor and Robin Preiss Glasser comes a story about the love little girls feel for their favorite dolls . . . and their favorite sisters!

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Ken Marantz and Sylvia Marantz
Fancy Nancy is back with her colorful vocabulary delighting young readers with her sparkles and fancy dialogue. Nancy is livid when her little sister Jojo draws an indelible tattoo on the body of her precious doll Marabelle. Nancy is only consoled when her mother tells her about a forthcoming doll gala. "Double ooh la la!" In the hotel ballroom at the gala are many dressed-up girls and dolls, but Marabelle is "the most beautiful by far." Nancy and Marabelle enjoy the many activities. At teatime, however, Nancy realizes that she no longer has Marabelle, but another similar doll in her place. What Jojo did was indeed despicable, but the tattoo saves the day. Fancy indeed are the scenes and vignettes that tell this tale. Each is intricately decorated wherever possible, even more for the events at the gala. Glasser uses ink pens, watercolors, and gouache to create the detailed naturalistic characters and their emotions; even the dolls are smiling. Reviewer: Ken Marantz and Sylvia Marantz
