Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Carrie Hane Hung
Imagine six titles in one storybook treasury which Fancy Nancy would say is a collection of her valuable adventures. In the first story, Fancy Nancy shares her consequences of her very late night experience of looking through Mrs. DeVine's celebrity scrapbook. In the next story, Fancy Nancy wears a unique, new nightgown for Pajama Day at school but she feels left out of her friendship with Bree. In the star adventure, find out what happens when the class trip to the planetarium is rained out and the roads are closed. In the stories that follow, read what Fancy Nancy does when her dog, Frenchy, gets into the delectable cupcakes for the bake sale or what Nancy does for the talent show when she is partners with Lionel, a very shy boy in her class. The last story in the treasury is about Fancy Nancy's first book report and the problem she runs into writing it. Every story has bright and colorful illustrations that detail Nancy's elaborate style and fashion. Fancy Nancy is known for her vocabulary-extending words which she defines in the context of the stories; these words are listed and defined at the end of the story (except for the first adventure). Avid fans of Fancy Nancy stories may already be familiar with these adventures which are previously published. However, those children less acquainted with Fancy Nancy may enjoy having a collection of her stories under one cover. Reviewer: Carrie Hane Hung
