The vampires want it. The demons want it, too. And someone is willing to kill Val for it.

Val and Fang have to find the powerful Encyclopedia Magicka before either of San Antonio's warring underworld factions locate it or the consequences will be deadly for the entire city. As usual, Val's vampire enemies (they still call her The Slayer) want her dead. Even some of her fellow demons may be less than trustworthy, since they'd like to grab the legendary book of spells before she does. Val has a personal claim to the Encyclopedia--her demon father left it to her when he died--but someone stole it recently. And that can't be good.

Battling vamps and dodging demons, Val struggles to unravel the mystery and find the thief. At the same time, she's fighting her attraction to sweet, sexy Shade--her favorite shadow demon. Rumor has it that Val will lose her part-demon, vampire-fighting powers if she gives herself to him.

With a crowd of vamps and demons out to trick her or kill her, it's not a good time for her to risk her job as the city's best vampire hunter by falling in love. The stakes are high and aimed right at her heart. But Lola, Val's hungry little lust demon, doesn't like being denied. Will Lola finally get her way?

What's a part-lust-demon-teen supposed to do? Whatever it takes.

Gr 10 Up—Val Shapiro is not your normal 18-year-old. Known as "The Slayer," she is a half demon working with the Supernatural Crimes Unit (SCU), keeping the human population safe from vampires. But the New Blood Movement, good vampires who want to coexist peacefully in the world, convince her to help them locate the ancient and powerful Encyclopedia Magicka. If it falls into the wrong hands, the results will be catastrophic. Coincidentally, mysterious Trevor Jackson appears, claiming to be the keeper of Encyclopedia. While everyone welcomes him, Val knows he is not who he claims to be and is determined to find the truth. What follows is a quest filled with action and suspense that does not end with all secrets revealed. In this third installment in the series, the characters are deeper and more conflicted. Val must make some life-altering decisions about being a slayer, dealing with her lust demon, Lola, and her relationship with Shade, all while saving the world. Mature supernatural fans will surely want to see what happens next.—Donna Rosenblum, Floral Park Memorial High School, NY

Another good book by Parker Blue. This third installation of the Demon Underground series picks up where Try Me left off. There are new changes in Val’s life and with it you see her growing more as a part human/ part succubus. As her relationship with Shade develops, she learns new things about herself. Now the plot had a lot more drama to it than the previous two books and the ending left me want more. A lot of questions are answered but I like where this series is heading and I can’t wait for the next one!

4 STARS This is the 3rd book in the series Demon Underground. So far I have enjoyed it and look forward to reading the next book when it comes out. Val is still looking for the stolen book. But because she worded a promise wrong she is now working for the good vampires till they are found. There is someone new to the series from LA underground Trevor who is keeper of the books. His father was keeper before him and was put in the book with magic. He warns that mage demon will want the books bad. He can find the books if he is within 500 feet. Everyone loves Trevor except Val. She does not trust him, but Shade thinks she is jealous because he likes him, her friends like him even her mom invited him over for Christmas Party. Val gets shot by an arrow through her leg durning a fight by her own side in the fight. Lola gets out of control from Val. It is a race to see who finds the book first. Some want it to control the world, some want it to save their side from others and use the knowledge for helping. Val wants it safe and so she can quit helping the vampires. Shade is helping trevor to find the books. Fang & Princess are still cute and funny. It would be funny to here my own pets talking. Love the series, its funny, action and romance in the demon & vampire world. I was given the 3 books of the series in exchange of honest review.

Valentine Shapiro is the Slayer. A long time ago she realized that there was yet another person inside of her that she has dubbed, Lola. Lola has the ability to "suck" others dry; hence, why Val takes out most of her aggressions on the streets slaying vampires in order to keep Lola in check. Of course, Val isn't alone. Her partner in everything she does is a dog named Fang, who 'speaks' to Val as they work together to solve various crimes. (Fang is adorable.) This time around Val has taken a leave of absence from the Special Crimes Unit, because she must work WITH the vampires in order to find an ancient book called the Encyclopedia of Magicka which has been proven to make even the best vampire go bad. Val has to get her hands on this book before even more bad things start to happen. Joining the team of the "New Blood Movement," which is run by the head "good" vampire named Alejandro, Val has to find a way to figure out who is telling the truth, and whether or not the appearance of a new player by the name of Trevor is a sign of help or destruction. Add in a hot demon boyfriend named Shade, and a voice that screams out, "Help Me," and readers will find themselves drawn into a story that is both exciting and hilarious. Parker Blue has offered two Demon Underground books before this one titled Bite Me and Try Me, and she hasn't lost her edge one single bit. The characters are still entertaining and the plot moves along quickly, offering the reader a really fun thrill ride. Quill Says: If you didn't begin with the first book in this series, go back and start. Valentine Shapiro, her dog named Fang, and HER world of vampires is absolutely captivating.

Parker Blue's Underground Series, which includes the titles Bite Me, Try Me, and Fang Me, left me with a feeling of lost time. Sentences tended to be choppy, and the characters were two-dimensional at best. Continual references to Buffy the Vampire Slayer made me want to bang my head against the wall at times. Check them out if you are looking for fast, mindless vampire novels. Disclaimer: Books provided by the publisher.

I still really liked this one, although it was my least favorite of the three so far. Val got a little whiny and repetitive with all her issues, and the 'revelation' with the villain was pretty obvious from very early on. But I still enjoyed it and I'm glad there's going to be another one.

I was really excited to read the 3rd book in this series. I love Shade and Val. In this book Val and Shade are looking for the hidden encyclopedia magicka books that were hidden in the previous book. Trevor comes to town fooling everyone into thinking he's the keeper of the books, everyone except Val. She doesn't trust him from the start. It's a great addition to the series and i would recommend these to anyone. I love that there are vampires thrown in but the main characters are demons, something very different than the hundreds of books out there. I really hope there will be more than 4 books in the series!!

In Fang Me, Val Shapiro is faced with hard decisions to make. And what she chooses will affect her life forever. Val's love for Shade, and her powers, are in question. Shade is an amazing character. He definitely gives all of himself to Val, and allows her to be herself. This book is a turning point for Val and Shade. I've enjoyed reading Bite Me, Try Me, and Fang Me, so I was little sad to see Val's story coming to an end, but Parker Blue is going to write one more book in this series. It will be coming out in 2012. I'm hoping the author will keep Val and Shade story going on to a fifth book. Val's charter is wonderful; I never tire of reading her actions and thoughts. Thank you, Parker Blue, for this amazing and beautiful story of Val,Shade, and Fang.

In San Antonio, every paranormal species wants to possess Encyclopedia Magicka. Especially pushing for ownership are the enemy combatants vampires and demons as the side that has the tome has an incredible edge in the hostilities between them. Both opponents will kill anyone who gets in their retrieval path. Val Shapiro the vampire hunter known by those she kills as Slayer and her sidekick Fang the canine understand what the Encyclopedia Magicka means to the underworld foes. They need to obtain the arcane book before the wrong hands destroy the city with it. Val distrusts her side as much as she does the vampires as she is well aware the spells are hard to resist since she owned the book inherited from her demon sire until someone stole it. While in search of the thief, Val struggles to contain her attraction to Shade the shadow demon as the cost of surrender may be too high while Lola the lust teen demon inside her wants him. The latest Demon Underground urban fantasy (see Try Me and Bite Me) is an entertaining thriller that readers will enjoy as the heroine seems to step into one problem after another. The fun story line is fast-paced with a nod to Buffy and Angel. Fans will enjoy this "Blue" tour of San Antonio escorted the courageous lead trio. Harriet Klausner
