"Exactly the sort of grisly, gross and hilarious stuff that kids will love!" - Eoin Colfer

When Luke Watson turns into a werewolf for the third time, the Government Housing of Unusual Lifeforms (G.H.O.U.L.) moves his family to Scream Street — a frightful community of vampires, zombies, witches, and sundry undead. Though Luke quickly makes friends, he vows to find a way to take his terrified parents home. The secret to opening the exit, he learns, is collecting six powerful relics the founding fathers left behind. But with a sinister landlord determined to thwart Luke at every turn, will he even get past the first hurdle alive?

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Cara Chancellor
In this first book in the "Scream Street" series, ten-year-old Luke Watson realizes he has a serious problem. Namely, every time he gets angry, he turns into a werewolf. Luke's parents—"normals"—have tried making him a vegetarian and taking away his violent video games, but, really, who knows how to cure werewolf-ism? When he injures a boy at school with his latest transformation, Luke and his family are targeted by G.H.O.U.L. (Government Housing of Unusual Lifeforms) and forcibly moved to Scream Street, a nocturnal neighborhood of vampires, mummies, and other creatures of legend. Luke soon makes friends, but his parents are scared to death… almost literally. Luke's only hope of getting his family out is an old book and six ancient relics said to be hidden throughout the neighborhood. Can he find them before the evil, power-hungry town landlord does? Or will his parents be stuck in a nightmare forever? Donbavand has created a fantastical, Tim Burton-worthy world peopled with engaging characters and deliciously evil villains. The book is at times a bit graphic—especially the opening scene of Luke's werewolf attack; but its surfer zombies and flatulent goblins are a perfect counterbalance to otherwise scary material. Young readers also will be excited about the two "Scream Street" trading cards included in the back of each installment in the series. Reviewer: Cara Chancellor

Out of all, I think this book did a great job scaring a few people and making others laugh. Great book for Halloween. There's Fear Street; now there's Scream Street! This book is the best; It even includes collector's cards! Great print! I'm glad it came out for the spookiest holiday, or else I never would've bought it. In other words, just in time! The cover art is very fancy, including the illustrations (pictures). I also have book two: blood of witch! My opinion is this is a great scary series (and funny, too) just like R.L. Stine's Goosebumps! To end this review: Great book!!!

A children's critic here. Tommy Donbavand has done the impossible; make my friend not only read, but beg for the entire series! She hated reading--until now. As a result, I have all thirteen Scream Street books... Read it. I recommend, no, command you to read it.
