I can't picture a book more welcoming to most young adults! Fangoria is one of the oldest and more popular horror magazines in the country. This collection gathers more than twenty-five interviews and feature articles that center on two of today's most famous horror writers: Stephen King and Clive Barker. Written from 1979 until the present, most selections range from four to twenty pages and read like a conversation overheard in someone's den late at night. Informal, often humorous, and filled with details of the authors' books, these articles are fascinating, but they also pique the reader's interest in books not yet read and films as yet unseen. This is not a subtle book-how could it be when films such as King's Maximum Overdrive have more than ten specific incidents that would have tagged it X rated? But here, one also can read about the first Stephen King film festival, or see how Barker copes with bit players who want to take over his favorite stunts and movie scenes. It's a slice of these authors' lives most high school students would love to further explore. Satisfying recreational reading for horror and movie buffs alike, this also could be used as supplementary reading in English and contemporary film courses. Copies will go out like crazy.
