Can you work for the Feds and still be fabulous? When “undercover” involves infiltrating a lair of nightclub poser vamps killing people in Florida (like, real murderers!), the only way to blend in is to stand out. The job certainly has its upside: five-alarm hotties, wicked fashion tips from the steampunk crowd, and partnering with my BFF Marcy and my gorgeous, genius boyfriend Bobby. And it helps to have a team behind me when facing my deadliest mission yet, where we might not actually be the scariest things to go bump in the night.

Perks of this assignment: I get to spend a lot of time in clubs and my undercover outfit is smoking hot, with no VPL (visible panty lines for those playing along at home).

Downside of this assignment: I have to offer Bobby to the killers as bait!

VOYA - Allison Hunter Hill
Gina Covello is back in this third installment of the Vamped series. There is nothing Gina enjoys more these days than a little down time with her best friend, Marcy, and her boyfriend, Bobby. Working together as a team of vampire liaisons for the federal government has made down-time scarce—and it is about to become nonexistent. A gruesome series of murders leads the feds to investigate The Tower—a complex nightclub that specializes in hosting elaborate vampire role-playing sessions for humans. The catch is that the real owners of the club actually are vampires, perhaps with murderous intent. It is up to Gina, once again, to uncover the truth. Diver successfully creates a vampire teen who is active and assertive and has no time for angst. Gina has a biting, sarcastic voice that makes the Vamped books quick and entertaining reads. There are times, though, that Gina's tone becomes vapid, and her constant commentary on appearance, make-up, and fashion is not balanced appropriately with any significant character depth or development. The continual use of stereotypical teen jargon, as well as Gina's misappropriation of words, may discredit and alienate more intelligent readers. Purchase for your collection if your teens are insatiable when it comes to vampire lit and you have room in the budget to keep up with the series. Reviewer: Allison Hunter Hill

Gr 8 Up—The adventures of Gina Covello, vampire extraordinaire, continue. Gina, her boyfriend, Bobby, and crew are once again working for the Feds. This time they are to infiltrate vampire wannabe clubs to gather information about what is really going on. Their mission is to find the true vampires in charge and convince them that she wants to double-cross the Feds. Gina and Bobby are so convincing that they discover secret and disturbing information that does not put the Feds in a good light, and Gina needs to sort out where her true loyalties lie. Diver spins an action-packed story that is filled with humor. Gina is a sassy heroine who tackles issues and challenges with proper vampire style. An enjoyable read that is sure to please fans of the series.—Donna Rosenblum, Floral Park Memorial High School, NY

Gina Covello, teen vampire and all-around glamour queen, is back in a new adventure that pits her and her heartthrob Bobby against enemies new and old. Dressed to kill but never taking more than a sip, Gina's working for the Feds, who keep her on a tight rein, cutting into Gina's idea of a good time. Her job here is to act as bait while hunting a teenage killer who is far too bloodthirsty to be a regular human boy. The wardrobe is to die for, but Gina's not enthusiastic about her task, which quickly gets even hinkier than usual…just who is the enemy now? No longer sure whom to trust, Gina must walk a tight line between her government handlers, the old vamps making Tampa, Fla., their new headquarters, an inventor who can't get a patent to save his soul and a growing gang of murderous teens who are way too into the whole goth look for comfort. Add in her very first human servant-wannabe, and Gina's nights are becoming more than full. As ever, Gina's feisty, funny narration carries the day. Gina never fails to please, as she strides down the runway of afterlife with just the right mix of humor, make-up advice, youthful lust that never crosses the line and a kung-fu style all her own. This one doesn't miss a beat. (Paranormal comedy. 12 & up)

Gina has got to be one of my fave protagonists. She's got wit, personality, and let's not forget good taste. She always knows how to fight a good fight and is up for any challenge. Let's face it, out of all the vamps out there, nobody can compare to Gina Covello. If you crave action-packed adventure mixed with a hint of humor and fun, this is the book for you. A Fangtastic sequel! ~Martha Ramirez
