    YUM!

I especially like it when a mystery gets right to the action, the death happens within the first five pages...now THAT'S what I'm talkin' 'bout. The rest of the book is all about getting Becca involved (in a satisfying to me way....come on you know how I am) in solving the murder.
I enjoyed the whole process, watching Becca meet the hottie new guy, Ian, and the possible new guy, police Officer Brion. Becca admits she doesn't have a fab history with men, so she treads carefully with both.
The mystery is well written and I had my favorite "WTH?" moment when the killer was revealed. And the action didn't stop! Very cool.
I know I love a story, too, when I want to move to the town where the action is happening. I want to move to South Carolina, I want to have a stall at Baileys' Farmers' Market and I want to have a farm like Becca's and make jam all the live long day....and I want to find the MMMMM-Amazing lemon meringue pie that Mamma Maria creates...read the book and you'll see why on all counts...

    Five enticing jam-filled beans.....

Farm Fresh Murder by Paige Shelton

    A Farmer's Market Mystery
    Release Date April 6, 2010

This is a brand new series featuring twin sisters Becca and Allison. Allison is manager of Bailey's Farm Market and Becca is a vendor at the market selling her jams and preserves.

One morning as Becca arrives at the market, late as usual, she finds her quaint farmer's market has become a crime scene. One of the peach vendors has been killed. Abner Justen, a vendor who sells wildflowers at the market and is like a father to Becca. She is shocked to learn he's is the number one suspect because he was seen arguing with the peach vendor earlier in the week.

Becca takes it upon herself to find the true murderer and ends up in a few "jams" herself.

This is a really good start to what I suspect will become a wonderful series. Lots of quirky characters you'll come to love, a budding romance, and twin sisters who can't seem to stay out of trouble.

This is Paige Shelton's first novel. She was born in Nevada, Missouri, but didn't spend a lot of time there. After a childhood full of many moves and high school and college in Des Moines, Iowa, she landed in Salt Lake City, Utah. There she met and married her husband, had a son, and worked in a variety of advertising-like jobs. She can't remember a time when she didn't want to be a writer, and she loves every moment she spends with her characters and their mysterious ways.

The first farmer's Markey Mystery is a fine and riveting amateur sleuth mystery

Becca Robins is making blackberry jam at her farm she shares with Hobbit the dog when her sister calls. Allison manages Bailey's Farmers Market where Becca sells her jams and jellies. She asks her sibling to come over immediately so Allison does. The police are there as is the corpse of Matt Simonson, who to the shock of the vendors was murdered.

Becca fails to recognize Matt because as Allison explains to her he just started working there. Allison further says that her best friend Abner is the prime suspect because they had a loud public argument, a bouquet made from his flowers is on the dead body and he has vanished. Later Abner calls Becca pleading with her not to investigate, but she refuses to abide by his request. Becca interviews other vendors, which leads to her puting the puzzle pieces together and placing herself in danger from a killer observing her every move.

The first farmer's Markey Mystery is a fine and riveting amateur sleuth mystery with more suspects than Abner has flowers in a bouquet. Besides a strong heroine who refuse to believe her friend is a killer, the support cast is superb as they bring out what goes on behind the scenes of a Farmer's Market environ while enhancing the investigation. Putting aside the sub-genre's recipe of placing the amateur sleuth who is already questionable as a detective in deadly peril, fans will enjoy Farm Fresh Murder as Becca determined and intrepid seeks the killer.
