Women have been powerful and prominent throughout history. But

Women have been powerful and prominent throughout history. But the author believes that we are still being repressed and misrepresented in today's world, especially in the church. His focus seems to be on showing how women can be great and be groomed to "reign".

The idea for the book is great. So I was excited to see how the author put these ideas on paper. Almost from the very beginning I was turned off. The presentation just wasn't working for me. There were quite a few things initially that I didn't agree with either. The author seems to use scripture very loosely and, I felt, often incorrectly. He kept urging the reader to stay with him and finish the book. I finished the book. I was left with very mixed feelings. The idea was great. The history was great. The battering ram approach just turned me off. While I enjoyed parts of this book, I honestly can't say that I would recommend it to someone wanting to read about this issue.

I received this book free of charge from Bethany House in exchange for my honest review.

I am in the middle of reading Fashioned to Reign right now.. I've spent weeks just reading the first 5 chapters, slowly, making sure I get all that I can out of it. There is so much wisdom and understanding available in this book. I love all of the scripture references. I personally don't think Kris took them out of context or is stretching Biblical truth here. The way I see it is, as believers we have the mind of Christ which allows us the privilege of thinking and dreaming like Him. When Kris uses “uncommon” scriptures as support for the topic of Fashioned to Reign, I believe it's because God is giving him insight and shining light on truths and revelations that we otherwise have not been seeing clearly. I've read the Bible most of my life and I am constantly learning new things about what was, what is, Gods character and His ways. Haven’t you ever read a verse where God shows you something new each time, and it all applies. Also, I absolutely love the first chapter! I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry through certain parts. Reading chapter one, The Saddest Story Ever Told, I felt like I was there. It should seriously be a movie! I love how Kris highlights Jesus’ heart towards women. As much as women have struggled in the area of being oppressed and demeaned so has the heart of Christ towards His people, specifically His daughters. This book is powerful. I’m excited to finish it and read it a second time!

Thank you Kris. And thank You, Lord for restoring the standard You Yourself set for us all.

Hope and courage rise within as I read this book, for Kris uses

Hope and courage rise within as I read this book, for Kris uses his strength and influence as a man to push back traditions that have latched onto isolated scriptures and used them as a bludgeon to trivialize women in the kingdom. As women rise into the space he and others like him create, we move together in graceful partnership to reflect the nature of God (male and female He created them) in a more wholesome way.

We are not each other’s enemy, fighting like children for the biggest slice of power. We are mature sons and daughters of the King, ambassadors who point their combined favor at reducing the enemy’s power in the earth and bringing instead the true experience of God’s glory.

But if we read this book with only the issue of the role of women in mind we will miss some of the subtle wisdom it contains. To understand women’s role we must read scripture through the lens of the goodness of God. Kris exemplifies this beautifully. And to have the finesse to alter the course of history without a war requires exceptional people and leadership skills. Altering how both men and women perceive powerful women in the Church is a mine field waiting to go off! I’m delighted to see how God leads Kris through that minefield with clarity, kindness, dignity and honor.

Thank you, Kris! As a woman I benefit from the shifts you help bring in the body of Christ, and as a human being I celebrate the shift away from oppression towards goodness and freedom everywhere!

I wanted to like this book, really

Vital topic. Disorganized delivery. Sweeping statements and sentiments. I'm sure it set some women free, but overall it was superficial and a complete let down.
