Ken has ten books published on various topics. He was inspired to write this book for several reasons. He has fasted on and off for forty years and has had rather good results to show for it: At nearly 60 years, Ken is 6 feet tall, under 140 pounds, has always been trim - and he can climb straight-up rock cliffs (with no ropes) for hundreds of feet non-stop without getting winded. Bragging aside, the main reason Ken chose to write this easy-to-read book is to show others the cost-saving and real health benefits of occasional fasts. He's tried various types of fasts and has come (along with other experienced fasters) to the easiest method which yields the best results. Fasting affects many other aspects of one's physical and mental state, namely: losing addictions, losing stress, and dealing better with stressful scenarios. The word 'highness' in the book's title alludes to the added benefit of getting 'high' naturally - via a cleansing fast. When a person allows the body to revert to its natural state, and gives the colon a break from constant duty, all sorts of interesting and beneficial things happen. Granted, the first couple days are usually uncomfortable, particularly for first-timers, but as the fast progresses, so too do the benefits.

Concise and well written. Just what I needed to get me started on my first real cleansing fast. I was lethargic and overweight, but after following the advice in this book, my energy returned and I'm back to jogging around the neighborhood, which is something I haven't done since High School. I've read several other books on fasting, and this one hit all the right buttons.
The author is not espousing one mantra, but rather puts out a bunch of options (with his opinions) and allows the reader to decide which is most suitable. No dogma and easy to read. Lots of interesting articles which related to nutrition, hormones, glands, drugs, and ways in which the body functions. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to research low-cost ways to get healthy - naturally.
