Overview

Packed with a fantastic range of delicious yet healthy vegetarian recipes, this essential cookbook is perfect for today’s health-conscious lifestyles. Meat-free eating is often assumed to be healthier, but many classic vegetarian dishes still have a high fat content. This book provides the answer, with tasty recipes that are virtually fat-free as well.

The introduction contains invaluable information on fat-free cooking and achieving a low-cholesterol lifestyle as well as how to create fat-free vegetarian alternatives to higher-fat dishes.

The main section of the book features over 180 delicious vegetarian recipes, each demonstrated in step-by-step photography. There is also a picture of each finished dish to show you exactly what you are aiming to achieve. An at-a-glance fat and calorie content chart is included, and each of the recipes comes with its own nutritional analysis so you can see instantly how little fat each dish contains.

The comprehensive selection of recipes includes soups, appetizers and snacks, side dishes, salads, light lunches and main courses as well as enticing low-fat or no-fat breads, cakes and desserts. Eating virtually fat-free vegetarian food need not mean that flavor is sacrificed, and there are plenty of delicious classic recipes specially adapted for those following a low-fat diet. Vegetable Kebabs with Mustard and Honey, Ratatouille Pancakes, Balti Stir-fried Vegetables with Cashews, Tropical Coconut Sorbet, and Chocolate and Banana Brownies are just a few of the tempting recipes that this book has to offer.

For cooks who care about their health and diet, this book is the perfect kitchen companion.

This is a great cookbook.   We've tried Peppers with Spiced Vegetables, Roasted Vegetable Soup, Mango Sorbet with Mango Sauce, Baked Mediterranean Vegetables, and Filo-topped Apple Pie.  All were delicious!  This is a great cookbook if you are a vegetarian or vegan (easy to adapt recipes) or even if you just want some healthy and tasty dishes.

Highly recommend to vegetarians or vegans

Great step by step directions with beautiful color photos of the steps as well as the final dish. Have tried 2 main courses so far and very pleased with both. Easy to convert to vegan.
Fat free is a little misleading in that a small bit of oil or cheese is added in many recipes.
