A huge fan of Jane Austen, Danielle hopes to find her own Mr. Darcy when she leaves Colorado to attend art school in London. Of course she knows it's silly to wish for that, naive even. But she's met enough males who lacked respect for women, a growing trend it seemed. And at nineteen...well.... However, on only her second night there she gets lost and is threatened by a stalker who proves to be immune to her martial arts training. Before she is completely overpowered, she is then saved by Ethan Deveroux.

While Danielle does find the romance she seeks in Ethan, he's no Mr. Darcy. Her hero is held by a spell which fractures their chance at a happy ending. During the day Ethan is closer to mortal than immortal and can date her like any other man. Yet, as the sun sets, the powerful magic of an ancient curse returns and the evil of that spell is revealed. When that magic begins, Danielle's fairytale romance ends because Ethan Deveroux is a vampire.

Meet the Author

Cheri is a mother of four beautiful girls, a wife to a loving computer geek, a writer, an artist, a photographer, a lover of words, and a lover of reading books.

Cheri went to Brigham Young University in 1988 where she majored in photography and design. She has worked as a portrait photographer and artist for twenty years. She has only recently realized that she can share the stories constantly playing through her thoughts, and added writing to her list of creative endeavors. She always did well in English, but never realized she could write as her other talents seemed to overshadow that hidden skill.

She has always had an interest in fairies, mermaids, vampires, witches, and, in truth, just about any type of fantasy or myth. She started out in elementary school drawing mermaids, fairies, and witches, and has since sold paintings of them on eBay. As computer technology advanced, she began digitally enhancing photographs into those magical creatures as well.

When stories of these beings continued to entertain her thoughts, to the point of almost haunting her, she decided it was time to start writing them down. FATEFUL is her first finished work, though other stories had come to her before that. She has seven other books in the plans, including: some on vampires, some on fairies, and all of them with a romantic twist.

Highly recommend this new paranormal romance!

I have to admit...I was a bit skeptical of this book when I was asked to read it by the author for the purpose of reviewing. I LOVED Twilight with a passion but have found it almost impossible to enjoy another vampire or paranormal book since, so I was convinced I wouldn't enjoy it. This book was an exception. I really liked it!! Fateful is about young Danielle who moves to London to go to school there and live with her Uncle, Aunt and cousin. Soon after her arrival in London she is attacked, but then saved by the handsome and delicious Ethan. The only issue is that her handsome rescuer is actually a cursed vampire. They soon begin dating and it proves to be almost impossible for Danielle to stay out of harm's way.

One of my favorite quotes "She loved the way her name melted from his tongue, like a tender endearment, made sweeter by his British articulation."

This story has a lot to be desired! The characters were delightful and I couldn't get enough of the sweet romance between Ethan and Danielle. The romance was my favorite part because it was sweet, and passionate yet clean. Danielle is a charming "girly girl" that loves to wear skirts and has an innocent way about her. Ethan is handsome, charming, and very old school when it comes to dating. The story line was very good. It did have a lot of similarities to Twilight, which is the only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 star rating, but then again, most vampire books do. The differences were great though and Cheri made her story stand out! There was lots action and most of the story was unpredictable. The ending was unique and I devoured the story as soon as I started reading it. I can't wait for the next book by Cheri Schmidt; she is a very gifted author! If you love young adult paranormal/vampire books then this needs to be added to your list of books to read, I highly recommend it!

I received a copy of this book to read and review from the author. My review is not biased by the fact that I was given this book. I HONESTLY read and review any book whether bought or given to me. If I did not like the book I would definitely not give a rave review or recommend it.

    Save your money

I can't even say that this book had a good start, because the entire thing is basically another Twilight. I'm really getting tired of books with no originality, save your money. If you are looking for a good vampire series that's cheap, try the Captive series instead.

    Lovely old fashion romance

I enjoyed this romance between Danielle and Ethan. It's nice to see an old fashion courting between a woman and a vampire.

    Twilight Lite

Not the best or worst vampire story I've read. Similar to a lighter version of Twilight. Just finished and not necessarily gonna read the sequels. I never got super engaged in the story.

After seeing all of the 5 star reviews for this series, I bought

After seeing all of the 5 star reviews for this series, I bought all 3 books in a set. I finished this book, but was very disappointed at the slow pace and total lack of any kind of action. The writing was ok, but I just couldn't get interested in the book at all. I felt no connection to the characters at all nor did I feel a connection between the characters. I wish I had something positive to say.

I wanted something interesting to read this summer so I decided

I wanted something interesting to read this summer so I decided to try this book. BIG MISTAKE. The plot was predictable, the lines cliche, the heroine did not endear herself to the reader, oh so much wrong with this book. It is like the author took bits and pieces from all genres that worked and mixed them up into this horrible mess. I am glad I did not get the series. If you are looking for something good to read my suggestion is try something else ~ Destry Disenchanted

I've always been a fan of love stories with a twist of fantasy,

I've always been a fan of love stories with a twist of fantasy, and this is a book i just keep coming back to. This book does have it's similarities to Twilight, but they're basic similarities. Vampires who don't eat humans and a human who falls in love with one of them. But Fateful has more quality to it than any of the Twilight books. The characters are clever and life like. Even with some of them being vampires :) I honestly can't think of a part of this book i didn't love. The ending was absolutely perfect and left me hungry for more. And the fact that it's set in London with a hunky, blonde, and British male lead just makes it that much better.

Oh man did I love this fabulous read. I am a huge twilight love

Oh man did I love this fabulous read. I am a huge twilight lover and all things gentle vampires. I am not really into the gory blood draining, shredding humans bit. This book was about vampires who resist drinking human blood.

I loved the setting, an American girl in London. Guys with British accents are just sexy, vampire or not:) I definitely pictured Ethan as a sexy Brit. I also enjoyed the tension between Ethan and Danielle.

I loved the storyline in this book as well. It was unique and had many great elements to it, such as the introduction of fairies and their loving nature. There was a lot of twists and the story never dragged.

This was such a spectacular young adult/ new adult read. Add this book to your must read list, folks. Then check out Fractured and Forever in the series. I give this story five glittery stars!

Just when I thought nothing would surpass Twilight as my number

Just when I thought nothing would surpass Twilight as my number 1 favorite book I stumbled upon this book and let me tell you it is awesome. It is better than Twilight. Cheri puts the best spins off a clean vampire romance that I have read so far! Definitely recommend this book.

    A great read!

I enjoyed this book immensely. I read the second installment to this series and was a little disappointed with how it turned out but that's only due to my own personal love of all things vampires. :) But it was a great love story on how love knows no bounds and will conquer all!

Very cheesy but alright for a romance paranormal novel

Good plot and nice climax. The emotions and relationship between the characters can be felt wonferfully. Though nearly every line was cliche and corny the story did keep md entranced. Not one for very happy endings and sickly sweet romances but this is okay. Reminded me a lot of the twlight saga but i let that slide to enjoy the book.

    Shows future promise and free

I liked concept- not a fan of the genre - but thot this was unique ;however, it was teeth grindingly slow for me + only respect for author/ess's hard work will make me finish + i have less than 50 pages to go. With small changes could be terrific- keep at it dear author/ess

Fateful is the first book in the Fateful series by Cheri Schmidt

Fateful is the first book in the Fateful series by Cheri Schmidt. I liked how these vampires were put together. By day, they are almost human. By night, they are more like classic bloodthirsty/monster vampire. They consider it an actual curse. One that could potentially be broken. Their history was interesting too.
