Overview

A huge fan of Jane Austen, Danielle hopes to find her own Mr. Darcy when she leaves Colorado to attend art school in London. Of course she knows it's silly to wish for that, naive even. But she's met enough males who lacked respect for women, a growing trend it seemed. And at nineteen...well.... However, on only her second night there she gets lost and is threatened by a stalker who proves to be immune to her martial arts training. Before she is completely overpowered, she is then saved by Ethan Deveroux.

While Danielle does find the romance she seeks in Ethan, he's no Mr. Darcy. Her hero is held by a spell which fractures their chance at a happy ending. During the day Ethan is closer to mortal than immortal and can date her like any other man. Yet, as the sun sets, the powerful magic of an ancient curse returns and the evil of that spell is revealed. When that magic begins, Danielle's fairytale romance ends because Ethan Deveroux is a vampire.

Meet the Author

Cheri Schmidt writes romance and is the author of Fateful, Fractured, Forever, The Order of Curse-Bound Knights, and Fair Maiden. Her Fateful Series has been a worldwide bestseller ever since she published, and these stories are currently being produced into audiobooks by actor Jason Downs under the name Tristan Hunt. She is currently working on The Trapping Club, a sequel to Fair Maiden, a contemporary/spy romance series, a steampunk story with a Cinderella spin, and a new take on Peter Pan. Cheri will say that her head is a very crowded place, and she wishes she could write faster. She will also tell you that if you do not like glittering fairies, hot vampires with British accents, knights in shining armor, the dashing Mr. Darcy, girly-girls who wear skirts, modern-day vigilantes, or large amounts of snogging, then perhaps her stories are not for you.

I have to admit...I was a bit skeptical of this book when I was asked to read it by the author for the purpose of reviewing. I LOVED Twilight with a passion but have found it almost impossible to enjoy another vampire or paranormal book since, so I was convinced I wouldn't enjoy it. This book was an exception. I really liked it!! Fateful is about young Danielle who moves to London to go to school there and live with her Uncle, Aunt and cousin. Soon after her arrival in London she is attacked, but then saved by the handsome and delicious Ethan. The only issue is that her handsome rescuer is actually a cursed vampire. They soon begin dating and it proves to be almost impossible for Danielle to stay out of harm's way. One of my favorite quotes "She loved the way her name melted from his tongue, like a tender endearment, made sweeter by his British articulation." This story has a lot to be desired! The characters were delightful and I couldn't get enough of the sweet romance between Ethan and Danielle. The romance was my favorite part because it was sweet, and passionate yet clean. Danielle is a charming "girly girl" that loves to wear skirts and has an innocent way about her. Ethan is handsome, charming, and very old school when it comes to dating. The story line was very good. It did have a lot of similarities to Twilight, which is the only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 star rating, but then again, most vampire books do. The differences were great though and Cheri made her story stand out! There was lots action and most of the story was unpredictable. The ending was unique and I devoured the story as soon as I started reading it. I can't wait for the next book by Cheri Schmidt; she is a very gifted author! If you love young adult paranormal/vampire books then this needs to be added to your list of books to read, I highly recommend it! I received a copy of this book to read and review from the author. My review is not biased by the fact that I was given this book. I HONESTLY read and review any book whether bought or given to me. If I did not like the book I would definitely not give a rave review or recommend it.

I am on my third time reading Fateful, Yes I love it that much. This book has become my number one vampire favorite. I am so glad to see a well written book that has a great romance but that keeps everything a pleasant PG! I can not wait for book two!

I absolutely loved this & it was totally worth the 99¢ I paid for it =D overall loved it & want more from this author its a long book too so it wasn't like most of the crappy short & cheap stories. You definitely get your money's worth with this one =D

Not the best or worst vampire story I've read. Similar to a lighter version of Twilight. Just finished and not necessarily gonna read the sequels. I never got super engaged in the story.

I wanted something interesting to read this summer so I decided to try this book. BIG MISTAKE. The plot was predictable, the lines cliche, the heroine did not endear herself to the reader, oh so much wrong with this book. It is like the author took bits and pieces from all genres that worked and mixed them up into this horrible mess. I am glad I did not get the series. If you are looking for something good to read my suggestion is try something else ~ Destry Disenchanted

I've always been a fan of love stories with a twist of fantasy, and this is a book i just keep coming back to. This book does have it's similarities to Twilight, but they're basic similarities. Vampires who don't eat humans and a human who falls in love with one of them. But Fateful has more quality to it than any of the Twilight books. The characters are clever and life like. Even with some of them being vampires :) I honestly can't think of a part of this book i didn't love. The ending was absolutely perfect and left me hungry for more. And the fact that it's set in London with a hunky, blonde, and British male lead just makes it that much better.

Oh man did I love this fabulous read. I am a huge twilight lover and all things gentle vampires. I am not really into the gory blood draining, shredding humans bit. This book was about vampires who resist drinking human blood. I loved the setting, an American girl in London. Guys with British accents are just sexy, vampire or not:) I definitely pictured Ethan as a sexy Brit. I also enjoyed the tension between Ethan and Danielle. I loved the storyline in this book as well. It was unique and had many great elements to it, such as the introduction of fairies and their loving nature. There was a lot of twists and the story never dragged. This was such a spectacular young adult/ new adult read. Add this book to your must read list, folks. Then check out Fractured and Forever in the series. I give this story five glittery stars!

Just when I thought nothing would surpass Twilight as my number 1 favorite book I stumbled upon this book and let me tell you it is awesome. It is better than Twilight. Cheri puts the best spins off a clean vampire romance that I have read so far! Definitely recommend this book.

DO NOT READ THIS BOOK! Its just a horrible remake of twilight. And I'll spare you the money and tell you its horrible, badly written, sappy, and very very predictable.

A young adult vampire romance with a few twists to the same old same old. Set in England our heroine slowly falls for a vampire who may not be able resist draining her life's blood. Put aside a weekend to devote some serious reading time to this tale of fated love what comes after.

Light easy read. Drama and intensity were very light. Good pre-teen romance book.

Two stars is only due to researh done. Never seen Twilight. Book could have been condensed Wilight

Fateful suffers from too many ideas. Vampires, soulmates, and weak Austen parallels. No real plot, and the repetative week in the knees commentary gets old pretty quick. There's definitely better out there.

Fateful” is definitely a young adult themed book. None the less I found it to be an enchanting read. While I am a bit overdosed on vampire stories I found "Fateful to be charming and magical. the author made me fall in love! Those who loved "Twilight." Will love "Fateful." even more so. ~Author Jan Marie of Entertainment Review Services

I can't even say that this book had a good start, because the entire thing is basically another Twilight. I'm really getting tired of books with no originality, save your money. If you are looking for a good vampire series that's cheap, try the Captive series instead.

This was a cute book about a young girl who found the love of her life and all that she dealt with on the way to happiness. Eventful and quick paced book on the paranormal scene

I enjoyed this book immensely. I read the second installment to this series and was a little disappointed with how it turned out but that's only due to my own personal love of all things vampires. :) But it was a great love story on how love knows no bounds and will conquer all!

I enjoyed this romance between Danielle and Ethan. It's nice to see an old fashion courting between a woman and a vampire.
