Library Journal
Deuce might not be an expert on food concession booths, but he knows that dead bodies don't belong in the freezer. Scoop up number three (after Popped Off) in this funny Texas-based series.

Deuce Winters and his very pregnant wife are working at the 4H food stand at the Carriveau Fair. Even though the weather is so desperately hot, everything seemed to be going well. That is, until Deuce opens the freezer and there is the groundsman, George Spellman, slumped on the floor of the walk-in freezer. Despite being a private investigator, Deuce faithfully promises his wife that he will not get involved with the murder case, but he soon finds out that he cannot keep that promise to her. Deuce's life turns interesting as he does his part, plays stay-at-home dad for his family, and nervously awaits the birth of his child that will be happen any day now. How on earth will Deuce juggle his chores around in order to do everything he has on his plate?

Wow, this is my first stay-at-home-dad's mystery and I love it. The story was so intense that I didn't want to stop reading. Jeffrey Allen sure knows how to write an intriguing story with many twists and turns and a lot of excitement going on throughout the book. He makes the story fun to read, and the humor will give readers quite a few laughs. Father Knows Death will have all of the mystery lovers rushing to get a copy of this newest edition to this series. I know you will laugh and enjoy this story as much as I did!

“Fair Week, Frozen Surprises and Fracking!”
Excitement is building in Rose Petal, Texas with the opening of the much-anticipated arrival of the Carriveau County Fair. “Stay-at Home Dad’/part-time private investigator, Deuce Winters and his pregnant (plus longgg overdue) Wife/Attorney Julianne have volunteered to work at the 4-H Food Stand since their 6 yr. old Daughter, Carly is a proud member. Expecting a record number of customers, Deuce assists at the grill, and despite the unseasonable heat for the month of April, everything seems to be running smoothly—that is until he discovers the frozen dead body of Groundskeeper George Spellman slumped amongst the bratwurst in the walk-in freezer! Why? With the fair in full-swing? And why did the discovery have to be made by Deuce! He promises an irritable and swollen-ankled Julianne that he won’t don his sleuthing hat and get involved, but, he has to go back on his word when he learns his“Short in stature, large in word and deed” partner, Victor Doolittle informs him that they are on retainer for none other than the “Head Honcho” running the Fair, Mama Biggs. She’s worried the fatality will ruin the fair and have an adverse effect on Rose Petal. The community benefits greatly from the annual event—but, who else could? Poor Deuce has to juggle his “Mr. Mom “ duties with a quiet investigation—all the while being ready at a moment’s notice to assist at their child’s birth. Quite a full plate! Especially when accusatory fingers point in several directions—and land at the doorstep of the Biggs Family themselves! Mama’s a wheeler-dealer, but is she also a murderer? If not, who would want a kind, sweet soul like George Spellman dead? I thoroughly enjoyed the Author’s latest. He has a talent for putting a comedic spin on an otherwise grim scenario, making it a fast, easy read that will lure you back to reading his other two cozies, “ Stay at Home Dead” and “Popped Off”(Snippets of which have been generously included at the conclusion of this book. Whether you’re a Cozy afficianado or not, make room in your bookshelf for this one—you won’t be disappointed! Bravo !
