Overview

Ever since the birth of his daughter, Nalla, Zsadist has been regressing further and further into the life he led before he met Bella, his beautiful shellan. He has been waking up in cold sweats due to nightmares from his past, hasn't made love to his wife, and won't hold his baby girl, for fear that he might hurt her. While Nalla's presence had consisted of only joy and excitement in first couple months of her life, now it seems to be driving the couple apart. Bella is afraid that she and Nalla just may need to leave her hellren.

But then Zsadist gets injured on a mission to fight the lessers and because he hasn't been feeding from Bella, almost loses his life. Could this near-death experience create the motivation to pull this couple back together? Or has the gap between them spanned too far for redemption?

BEWARE - This is not what you think it is

This low rating is not for the novella "Father Mine". It is for what is promised and not delivered. I purchased this thinking it was an Insider's Guide for The Black Dagger Brotherhood readers plus the novella about Zsadist and Bella. After I purchased it I found that it was only the novella (Father Mine) which I already had. It did NOT include the Insider's Guide, stats for the Brothers, Interviews with the author, etc. as described in the book's description.

    Great Adult vampire story!

For all of us who really enjoy a good vampire but not really interested in the Tween version Twilight Series ( not that I am knocking those stories). The black Dagger Brotherhood is for a more mature audience of Women. No, its not very intellectual, but a good romance does not always have to be Pride and Prejudice. I really enjoyed having a short story on the characters of Bella and Zsadist. To read more on what happened after the birth of their child and the things that Zsadist continued to struggle with. We finally get a good sense that he was able to conquer the ghosts of his past and come to terms with what happened to him. All in all a good read.

    love the series

First off Ill say I love the series and am a devout fan of The Black Dagger Brotherhood. Just a quick FYI, you can go to her website and read everything that is in this guide, minus Zadist and Bella's story, for free.

    great read

another great book by J. R. Ward I haven't found a book from her I don't like yet. This short story explains in more detail the struggles Zsadist goes through and how love never fails.

Highly recommended...but only if you have read the 1st 6 books

I loved this book. At the time of the reading I had just finished Vishous' and Phury's story and I must admit, I did not think they were as good as the first books. I almost felt cheated. That is until I read this book. It explained a lot of things about those books and I came to understand and finally love them just as much as the first books. This book showed how Ms. Ward wrote these books and how much she loves her warriors. It made me fall in love with the BDB men all over again!

WOW. So highly recommended if you've read the BDB SERIES!

Okay,so I was a little dissapointed when the series ended with "Lover Mine" So this short story about the fiercest Brother and his "Shellan" Bella(called Father Mine) was a GREAT READ. It really brings you closer to those characters, and the book had a bit more realizm in it because we all know being that in love dosent last forever and being married has its Problems! but the book makes you think about your own relationship and when was the last time.....we made love or looked into.eaxh others eyes or bought your spouse something nice jist because. A definate great book for all to read. I just really truley hope "Ward" does at least one more book necause a lot has been n answered or un discussed and I would really love to see ALL the characters in BDB SERIES have their happy ending or at least some ENDING!!!!

GREAT JOB ON WHOLE SERIES WARD, You truly are a great and creative writer. I would love to know how you come up with it All? The characters, stories dor eaxh novel, plots, and I gotta say THE NAMES OF YOUR CHARACTERS WERE AMAZING AND I WOULD NAME MY CHILDREN AFTER THEM! Plus I also liked how you put these hard core names with the hard core males mated with these females with the most BASIC INNOCENT NAMES........GENIOUS

recommend for Black Dagger Brotherhood series readers.

This is a short story about Zsadist, Bella & Nalla. How Zsadist bonds with Nalla after her birth.

Although I do not embrace the frat boy language, the sentence fragments, and the lack of editing in this book, anyone who had read Ward's third BDB series has to pick this one up, too. Ward is a great story teller, and she has managed to tweak the archetypical vampire to create these ones. As I said, her writing is pretty bad, she can't write fight scene to save her life, but her gift is the ability to write a good story.

If you love the BDB series, you will adore this short extension of Z's story (Dance with the Devil). I am a huge fan of the BDB & Z is one of my favorite characters. I've re-read his story several times.

Zsadist and Bella deserve their happy ending

I loved this second glimpse into Zsadist and Bella's life with their daughter Nalla. I love how Z is coming to terms and finding out that he can be happy and that his past doesn't have to taint his relationship with his daughter. Bella is a strong woman and lives as the example to Z that a horrible past doesn't have to taint the future. Lived it.
