Overview

From Caroline’s husband:

Years ago, Caroline and I got a new computer with software that allowed us to do much more than the previous text editors on our old machine.
At the same time we had two daughters in college and money was tight. We noticed that most women’s magazines had ads in the back for recipes. We decided to produce a recipe book that featured not only individual recipes, but included menu suggestions for entire meals. Caroline was already a veteran newspaper writer and columnist and an aspiring novelist. She wrote the copy, entered the data, and drew the cover art. I printed the master copy and had fifty copies printed. We bought advertising in one magazine and sat back to wait for the orders.
We only sold one copy!  Thus ended our first venture into self-publishing. Caroline went on to sell romance novels to print publishers and became a well-known western historical author. When e-books began to flourish and self-publishing became a profitable venture, Caroline embraced the concept and became a best-selling western romance author. I continued my supporting role, helping out with cover art, manuscript preparation, and computer and technical problems. Our second self-publishing venture has had a successful outcome.
The recipe book was very popular as a gift item to relatives and friends, but it was eventually relegated to the basement. There it stayed until I came across a box with the remaining copies a few days ago. I thought it would be fun to republish Caroline’s first self-published book.
The recipes are great. We use them frequently. I hope you enjoy them,
Lilburn
