***Inspired by true events***
I can't remember the last time I felt completely safe. Security seemed more like a luxury to me, reserved for those who were fortunate enough to have picture perfect childhoods. For those who didn't bear the ugly scars that keep me bound in constant, debilitating fear. I've run from that fear my entire life. But when I met him, for once, I couldn't run anymore.

He scared the hell out of me in a way that excited every fiber of my being. It wasn't the tattoos or the piercings. It wasn't the warmth that seemed to radiate from his frame and blanket me whenever he was near. It was just...him. The scary beautiful man that threatened to alter 23 years of routine and rituals, and make me face my crippling fear.

My name is Kami and I am constantly afraid. And the thing that scares me the most is the very thing I want.

"Don't worry," he smiled, pulling me into the hard warmth of his chest. "I've got you. I'll always catch you when you fall."

And just like that, Blaine had staked his claim on the untouched part of me that no living soul had ever moved. He had captured every fear, every reservation, and crushed them in the palm of his inked hand.

*** This book deals with sensitive subjects such as domestic violence and sexual abuse. Not intended for readers under 17 years of age.

Well, thanks to the NUMEROUS plot spoilers here, there is no reason to buy this book. One rude spoiler even quoted passages from the book....come on, how rude can you ppl get! Did you ever consider that some of us would like to read a book and not have you plot spoilers give us the readers digest version? We would like to read it and be surprised. And before some smart a$$ says dont read them, how can you not when they go on and on and on and you have to scroll forever to get past them. You inevitably see something that spoils the storyline. Please bn, do somerhing to these plot spoilers that ruin books. Ban them, fine them, delete their posts, but please put a stop to these rude plot spoilers!!!!!!!!""

Want to preface with this: I am an adult survivor of eerily similar background and feel I have a clearer insight into Kam's struggles than most. My mother was 17 when she had me, she is Filipino, etc etc etc. Weird to read this, truly. When I was in my early 20s, I certainly remember the hypersensitivity to everything that might trigger memories, so the writing about thes issues, I get. But I left those years behind more than 1/4 century ago and time gives one a perspective that the excess drama of youth leaves little room for. I empathize with Kam and Blaine's absorption with each other-I have my own "Blaine" and 3 years of our college experience, then 25 years of marriage later, I say with great confidence that all of the bad can be overcome. It just palled a bit for me wiith the constant overblown reactions. I get the fears of the dark, of closed doors, I don't get the verbal abuse she spews at Blaine. She accepts her friends with loving physical expressions but intentionally hurts the one she cares for the most? Blaming her behavior on her past was a good reason when she was a child, but they are excuses when you are an adult. And I am NOT referring to her panic attacks here, I mean the yo-yo action of "I want to be with him" "I can't be with him". Lots of TALK about how giving and wonderful Kam is but her friends Dom and Angel demonstrate this better.

This book was so hard for me to get through, between the cringe worthy corniness, the wishy washy character and the rocky flow of the story line. The story in general could have been better written.

wow. this was excellent! Dealt with some really serious issues and did a fantastic job. I want a Blaine! Now I really want a HEA for Dom and Angel too! CJ can have one as well. I hope she continues the group and writes their stories as well.

This book took me longer than usual to finish. I had a hard time liking the main female character. And i couldnt find a major connection between her and the male lead. It felt a bit slow. Nothing exciting about it for me.

The author tackled some touchy subjects.... but I loved that she made the main character a little unlikable; in my opinion that added to the realness of the story. It made us see how someone's issues and past can consume them and take them away from everything that can be great in their lives. This was my first time reading a book by this author but I'll definitely give S.L. Jennings another try!

This is by far one of the best books I have ever read. The topic of this book is something that most people aren't comfortable speaking on but it is something that needs to be heard by all ears. Wonderful story line that will keep you flipping the pages for more.

This book is very realistic. It was truly wonderful and it certainly makes us think. Unfortunately, many in abusive situations never get a happy or positive end.

I enjoyed reading this book. There were parts of it that dealt with some serious issues. Sad to think that those types of abuse are real . I loved Dom and Angel and CJs personalities. This book was filled with Love, empathy, compassion, fear and acceptance. I had a range of emotions going through me while reading this. I hope there is a continuation to this book. I'd like to see what happens with all the characters especially Dom and CJ. I would recommend this book to a friend. After reading fear of falling I will be reading more from this author

This was my first book by this author, and couldn't put it down once I started. As a reader, you are compelled to feel the angst of each character and hope that Kami gets the HEA that she deserves.
