All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Taylor Swift abandons any pretense that she's a teen on her second album, Fearless -- which isn't to say that she suddenly tarts herself up, running away from her youth in a manner that's all too familiar to many teen stars. Swift's maturation is deliberate and careful, styled after the crossover country-pop of Shania Twain and Faith Hill before they turned into divas. Despite the success of her self-titled 2006 debut, there's nothing at all diva-like about Swift on 2008's Fearless: she's soft-spoken and considerate, a big sister instead of a big star. Nowhere is this truer than on "Fifteen," a kind warning for a teen to watch her heart sung from the perspective...

Nowhere is this truer than on "Fifteen," a kind warning for a teen to watch her heart sung from the perspective of a woman who's perhaps twice that age -- a sly trick for the 18-year-old Swift. There may be a hint of youthfulness to her singing but that's the only hint of girlishness here; her writing -- and she had a hand in penning all 13 tracks here, with six of them bearing her solitary credit -- is sharply, subtly crafted and the music is softly assured, never pushing its hooks too hard and settling into a warm bed of guitars and keyboards. Like many country-pop albums of the 2000s, the pop heavily outweighs the country -- there aren't fiddles here, there are violins -- yet Fearless never feels garish, a crass attempt at a crossover success. It's small-scale and sweetly tuneful, always seeming humble even when the power ballads build to a big close. Swift's gentle touch is as enduring as her songcraft, and this musical maturity may not quite jibe with her age but it does help make Fearless one of the best mainstream pop albums of 2008.
Entertainment Weekly - Leah Greenblatt
Her supple, lightly twangy vocals fit the album's lilting melodies (most of the slick, radio-friendly instrumentation here is purely functional), and her sentiments, though sometimes naive, are refreshingly age-appropriate. [B]

    What?

For the person who wrote the first review, what are you talking about. Taylor Swift is a great example and an inspiration to all girls out there. Do you honestly expect people to believe that she curses, are you that dumb, you dont have to like her but dont make up lies so stupid that no one will believe you anyway

A great second album...sure to be a best seller and give many #1 hits!

Wow. I've been waiting for this for a long time and I have to say I am more than happy. She write 8 of the songs herself, and cowrote the rest! Pure Talent!!! The Best Day and The Way I Loved You may be two of my all time favorite songs. Hey Stephen is addicting. Fearless makes you want to dance in the rain. Great job, Tay. Can't Wait for the third album from one of the most charming, inspiring, and positive role models out there!

    Go Taylor!

Taylor Swift is byfar my favorite country singer and my idol. She's a great role model for everyone. She's a phenomeonal singer and I can relate to all of her songs. One thing I like about Taylor is she's true to herself and doesn't crack under pressure. I love her voice! I like how she writes most of her songs. I could go on and on and on! Rock on, Taylor, and keep doing what you do!!
P.S. I recommend this to ANYONE!!!

Are You Serious "Thy Wicked Juggalo"?

Taylor Swift's music does not have the f word nor the n word. That couldn't be farther from the truth. She is talented when it comes to writing lyrics that are relatable to every girl out there. By the use of incorrect grammar it is safe to assume whomever Thy wicked Juggalo is, that wrote the previous comment must be a twelve year old. A twelve year old who has never even listened to a song by Taylor Swift. If you are going to leave ratings atleast check you facts!

first let me say this taylor swift is not good enough to be considered country music shes more of bubblegum pop type of music she only got popluar because she knew the right people this chick now thinks shes junbe carter cash or something which is weird because nobody can not replace june carter cash alot of things have been going around lately that most of my favorite artists became sell outs and stuff which is not true what so ever but taylor swift is annyoing and all of her songs she makes sound the same

    Bored

Am I the only person sick of hearing Taylor Swift's young love country/pop nonsense?! I don't like it at all. OK, "Love Story" is a good song, but I still think she should write about something more sincere. I don't really care about her crush back in second grade, or the teardrops she crying over Drew. I need to hear something like Carrie Underwood's "Jesus take the Wheel". That's just my opinion.

Great for 15 year olds and up

Relatable songs written by a real girl, Taylor Swift. Captures the time in a 15 year old girls life, through songs such as "Fifteen," where a girl describes her first day of high school; "Change," the time when girls rebel against injustice and pain; "White Horse," when a boy disappoints, and more! :)

It's a solid, but unspectacular, album

I am a 29 year old woman who enjoyed Swift's debut album for the most part. A couple songs I skipped, like Should've Said No, due to the teenage lyrics, but she is a teenager after all. It's refreshing to hear a teenager sing age appropriate songs.

That said, her new album I would've loved when I was in my teens, or even early 20's. She has some songwriting chops, and you have to hand it to artists who write or cowrite every song on an album. But, not all songs on this album were ones I can relate to at my age. "Fifteen" about the high school days, I skip right through. Same with "You belong with me". I find myself skipping more songs on this CD due to that fact than her previous one.

Of course, their are some gems on here too. "Fearless" is a great song about new love. Has one of the most romantic lines I've heard in a song, when she sings about how "for you, i'd dance in the rain in my best dress." "Love Story" is a fluffy song, but it's also creative in the lyrics. "White Horse" is a song anyone who has had their hearts broken can relate to. "The Best Day" is a sweet folksy song dedicated to her mom.

Swifts lyrics, and delivery, allow the listener to paint a picture of what she is singing about.

I'd recommend this album, but to those above the teenage or early 20's age group, just be aware that some songs you are going to skip.

    Awesome!

I just bought the Fearless CD today and listened to the WHOLE thing in one sitting! This CD has the potential to become one of my favorite CD's! I don't know what the first person who wrote a review was thinking. Clearly Taylor's not the one with the poor writing skills; the first reviewer's lack of punctuation, capitalization, and proper grammar would lead me to believe that he or she is the one who can't write! I would highly recommend this CD to anyone.

    INCREDIBLE

taylor swift is an amazing person and i don't know how anyone out there can not be a fan of hers. she is a great role model for all her fans and the younger generation of children out there. she actually has talent which half of the artists on the radio lack completely, but people are still fans of them. she nows how to capture an audience and even writes her own songs. she has talent and people look for anything/everything to hold against her, but the thing is, all she's done to anyone is just sing her heart out and be the incredible person that she was destined to be.
