Halloween is a bad time to return to the woods . . .

A famous Sci-Fi author moves to a woodland that she has dreamed about. This is like beauty and the beast, but more exciting. I hope they write a sequel.

I was really excited to read Feast. I love faerie lore and the Wild Hunt.
I thought this would be great. It wasn't. It wasn't the shifting POV and the short chapters that turned me off. I can follow complex stories.
Presumably the two main characters are Maddie and Ash, but we spend too much time in other people's minds so their story isn't much of a story. I never felt like I understood Maddie or Ash or their motivations. Who brings their nine year old kid trick-or-treating after dark right after you've found a dead body and have been accosted by a monster in the woods? And the curse isn't much of a curse. I don't get that at all. And I don't believe for second that Maddie has fallen in love with Ash. It is too forced.
And there are too many convoluted paranormal aspects to this story and none of them but the Darklings are evolved enough to be worth mentioning.
The entire books seems like a rush job

I'm in LOVE! This was a beautifully written novel and I was captivated the entire way through. One of my favorite aspects of the novel is the multiple points of view, which is turn creates very short chapters. There are many characters within the novel, both good and evil, and having their perspective of events is such a great aide to the story, allowing the reader to see deep inside their souls as events unfold around them. I also liked that, though Destefano uses multiple points of view, she doesn't rehash the exact same stories repeatedly. One chapter may be Maddie's point of view in terms of coming across a dead body, and the next chapter could be Ash reminiscing about a past harvest. While there does seem to be some sort of connection between the events of each chapter, the fact that they don't simply rehash the same event from a new perspective is refreshing. I really enjoyed the way this novel was written and I was enamored the entire way through.
I also loved the idea that our dreams are feasted upon by unknown entities-huge winged creatures that harvest our dreams and possess the power to kill us in our sleep if they aren't careful. This was really intriguing, especially since most of us cannot remember our dreams upon awaking. I highly suggest everyone read this novel-it will keep you enthralled and in suspense from the very first page. Four and a half stars!

Needing to regenerate her brain cells, she and her nine year old son Tucker travel to Ticonderoga Falls based on her memories of a good time when she and her parents rented a cabin there.
However, Maddie has forgotten the dark side of that childhood adventure in which the enigmatic Ash saved her life. Ticonderoga Falls celebrates the Harvest on Halloween night. However, it is not the humans who host the gala as the Others feast on the Harvest of Dreams of these foolish mortals. New and returned blood excite the Darkling as Maddie begins to grasp the connotation of the dreams she had as a child, but may be too late to save Tucker without a sacrifice; her only hope once again is with Ash the fallen bringer of the town's curse.
Feast is an engaging romantic urban fantasy that grips the audience from the moment Ash welcomes back Maddie and never releases its' hold until the final confrontation. The story line is loaded with action, but several concepts are not developed, which hopefully will occur in future Harvest of Dreams thrillers. Maddie is a wonderful human in peril while Ash remains somewhat mysterious though he feels an obsessive need to keep Maddie and Tucker safe. Readers will Feast on this fine harvest but expect more insight into the Destefano realm.
