Editorial Reviews

Associated Press
Feel Nifty After 50! says author Jo Peddicord. She gives sensible advice on staying fit and eating right but also weighs in on your attitude and your plans for the rest of your life.
Elizabeth Millard
[Peddicord's] writing style is flourish-free and colloquial, giving one the feeling that these are the jottings of a jazzy mom who wisely advises without an ounce of preaching. Women over fifty, and those below that age as well, will benefit form Peddicord's roses and stars.
ForeWord Magazine
Mary Ann Littell
Getting older is inevitable but stereotypes of the "over 50" woman no longer fit. This humorous, breezy book offers tips on thinking and looking young, even if you are not. The author, a syndicated columnist, mother and grandmother, says that attitudes shouldn't change once you reach the age of 50. She stresses creativity and a positive attitude as primary ways to stay young and active, and advises against retirement, believing that it starts a downhill slide toward being old. Work means learning, activity and structure, all essentials to looking and feeling younger.

Sprinkles throughout the book are anecdotes and tips from accomplished people over 50. Humorous lists include "seniors" who developed skills late in life, including Coco Chanel (a designer at 85), Pablo Casals still giving concerts at 88), and Norman Vincent Peale (still giving 100 speeches a year at 93). Other interesting sections of the book include the pros and cons of having plastic surgery if you're over 50, solutions for thinning hair (a problem faced by many older women), and a discussion about depression.

The book is humorous and entertaining, but the subject is serious. The author says that once you begin actin old, you become old. Age is no barrier to looking and feeling dynamic and alive.
