Description: This book is dedicated to golf-related medical issues.
Purpose: This book attempts to address the causes of golfing injuries as well as the treatment and prevention of injuries. The size of the golfing population is rapidly increasing.
Audience: Although this book is intended for medical and nonmedical readers, nonmedical personnel will find this book very difficult to read.
Features: This book has an adequate number of good quality illustrations. It appears to be well organized.
Assessment: This book deals with a variety of golf-related medical issues. The book has good intentions but tries to do too much by addressing too many topics and is not intended for nonmedical personnel.

Recognizing the relative paucity of medical reports dealing with golf, this volume provides literature reviews, pertinent studies and investigations, and specific therapies. It includes not only advice on diagnosing and treating the most common injuries and illnesses afflicting golfers but also suggestions for preventive techniques (including the avoidance of some stressful swing styles) to ward off future pain and disability. One chapter offers guidance on handling medical needs that arise on the course. Other chapters discuss training and nutritional and psychological techniques that can help golfers of all skill levels achieve better results safely. Annotation c.
