Overview

Knowing how to describe our feelings is important to our emotional health. So is knowing it's okay to talk about our feelings with others. Feelings can be confusing when we don't have the words to express them; they can be overwhelming and even scary when we keep them to ourselves. In rhyming poems and engaging illustrations, this book helps children build and use a vocabulary for communicating their emotions. Because it's meant to be read aloud, it encourages discussion. From "A is for Awesome" to "Z is for Zany," Feelings to Share from A to Z invites kids to name, claim, and share their emotions.

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Melissa Hower
In this book the authors explore a wide variety of feelings. Twenty-six words beginning with each letter of the alphabet are examined to help children understand and express their feelings. Each word is explained through the use of rhyming verse and lively pictures. Suggestions about how to deal with some of these emotions are also offered. Some of the words in this book will be familiar to young children, such as happy, sad, and kind. Other words may need further explanation, such as zany, valued, and optimistic. This book will help to expand vocabulary and offer children new ways to express the many emotions they feel each and every day. The vibrant illustrations convey each feeling accurately and include children and adults from many backgrounds. The rhyming verse, colorful pictures, and the many opportunities for expanding vocabulary make this book a winner. This would be a wonderful book to include in any home or school library. The wide variety of feeling words and terrific illustrations make this book an excellent resource for any elementary school guidance counselor. Reviewer: Melissa Hower

I bought for child therapy. It's a great book but really long. In order to read and discuss the book with a child would be time consuming since there's pretty large paragraphs for all 26 feelings. I recommend this book for slightly older kids that have a general grasp on understanding different emotional states
