Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
A cast of multicultural children illustrate the nebulous concept of feelings, giving each emotion a specific interpretation with rhyming text. For example: Creative. You feel creative when you sing and dance. And find a new way to wear your underpants. The rhyme scheme is occasionally forced, and the definitions are limiting, but the book could still be useful for introducing toddlers to feelings. The back cover of this book lists this book as being appropriate for children who are baby--preschool and ages 3 and up. While this book is potentially helpful and fun to read, older children may be ready to trade in sturdy board books for regular books, which have more space for complex illustrations and increasing amounts of text. The reviewer finds that this book is suited for children ages 24 to 48 months old, though some of the children in the illustrations seem older, which may impede younger children from identifying with the characters in the book. This book is not strongly recommended for purchase, but libraries with a surplus budget may find it a good addition to their collection. Reviewer: Meagan Albright

Love this book! Feelings for children are very confusing and often hard to understand. I am a volunteer for a childrens group and found this book easy for children to read as well as to help them find the words to express what they are feeling.
