Drawing from the same angst-filled well as fellow Canadian Avril Lavigne, singer-songwriter Fefe Dobson makes an impressive entrée into the pop-rock arena with her self-titled debut. The feisty newcomer, whose commanding vocals recall Alanis Morissette and the punk-lite posturing of her aforementioned peer, shows promise on 12 guitar-driven tracks that reflect the teen's musical influences, including Nirvana and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. With its melodic guitar chords, the rap-rock-fused "Give It Up" even recalls the Chili Peppers' "Under the Bridge." But the 18-year-old proves she's no copycat on the touching and understated "Julia" and "Revolution Song," which starts with a folksy acoustic guitar and then builds in intensity. "Rock It Till You Drop It" is also a nice surprise, thanks to a beat-juggling break and an old-school rap by Tone "Wild Thing" Loc. Although Dobson falls prey to some rock clichés -- overdone guitar riffs and a dramatic shouting chorus ("I want for you to know, you are, you are, unforgiven!") on the Pat Benatar throwback "Unforgiven," about the father who abandoned her -- she has more than enough star quality to compensate. Skater boys, you have been warned.

Editorial Reviews

Dobson's self-titled debut is a mixture of punk, pop, and rock that shows real emotion and intense potential.
Blender - Mim Udovitch
This effortlessly catchy debut proves that in the wake of Christina Aguilera's Stripped and Pink's M!ssundaztood, young female singers no longer have to wait for their second album to make a bad-girl record.

With the raw rock power of No Doubt and Pat Benatar mixed with the soul and writing talents that mirror Alicia Keys, this girl is taking the U.S. by surprise. I only had to hear one song to know that I wanted the album. Well, it didn't disappoint, all the songs are great. Bonus!!!! it's not as high priced as all other CD's either, so what are you waing for?

When I picked up Fefe Dobson's cd at a very low price, I honestly wasn't expecting much. I wasn't sure I liked it at first. I listened to the whole cd a few times.....each time it got better and better. This artist definately grows on you.

Fefe Dobson's debut album is a great mix of pumped up, punk songs. Along with that are some great ballads. The album has a song for every mood. Fefe really put her heart and soul into this album. This album is really great for anyone, no matter what your musical taste.

The only good songs on this CD are the two you can hear on the radio. I think she has potential, but this album isn't worth it.

Fefe's cd is great! I think everyone should go and buy a copy of the cd! She is nothing like the "Pop Princess" type, that is what makes her rock! Go Fefe!

When i first heard Take me Away on the radio I knew that Fefe was gonna make it big. I then went to her concert in a town that was a few miles away. Fefe was great. She was so down to earth. She has such a great personaltity and she really knows how to make a show fun

The debut album from FeFe Dobson is great. She proves that you don't need to sing bubblegum pop songs just because you're pretty. All the songs are written or co-written by her, which is quite an amazing feat for an artist. Each song is different but it still sounds good together and they are all so real. I relate to ever song on the album. It tops albums from other artists who sing songs that they themselves don't relate to or they have never been through certain experiences and they still sing songs about them. I give her a lot of credit for putting out such a real album. Bye Bye Boyfriend, Take Me Away, Stupid Little Love Song, Everthing, Kiss Me Fool, We Went For a Ride, and Give It Up all focus on the ups&downs and the good&bad of relationships. Revolution Song is an inspiring song which makes me feel like there should never be a time when you settle for anything less than what you know you should get. Unforgiven and Julia make me realize that FeFe doesnt have any qualms about speaking how she feels about situations or people. I feel it gives me the power to be honest with people about how I feel about them and other things in general.

FeFe isn't special or unique in any way. All this is is radio-friendly pop that doesn't cause a stir in society. It's just so pathetic that while pop stars like FeFe get all this fame and rock credibility, there are real rockers out there who deserve that rock credibility. Singers like FeFe need to get a life. Maybe a new sound while they're at it?

I strongly believe that Fefe Dobson deserves to placed into every stocking this year, whether you have a teen or a 20 something. This is a great album for any occasion. Fefe Dobson is an individual that knows what she wants in life. And I feel that she inspires you to do the same. Either way it's a great album and I think everyone should have a copy.

hello out there! Is it true, Canada really contributes to the world? Yes! Within the past few years, a wave of canadian rockers have been finding their way into American mainstream such as Nickelback, Default, Alanis Morrisette, Kittie, and the newest rock star, Fefe Dobson, with her mix of nu-metal and acoustic sound, her self-titled debut album is rocking young people everywhere. Every song on her album displays a different form of rock, from the punk driven "stupid little love song" to mellow/acoustic "revolution song" to the lyrically deep, nu-metal/heavy driven "unforgiven". She is an excellent musician who writes her own music (which many people do not) and the lyrics are powerful and meaninful, in which today's young people can relate to. She shows much promise and looks to have a promising future and career in music.

Okay, this CD is so great! You would think she'd have those boring, soulful, rnb-rap-laden songs that everyone is doing right now, but NOPE! She has a very rockish album which sets her apart from a sea of Beyonces, Britneys, and j.Los. Her voice shines with this style of music, and she is just a really cute grl! I think everyone needs to get this CD ASAP... mark my words... FEFE IS THE NEXT BIG THING!!!

Fefe Dobson broke onto the music scene with her Pop/Rock/Punk vibe and her first single "Take Me Away." Her freshman CD is incredible, with great guitar rifts and spunky lyrics. Here is my review/rating her tracks (out of 10): 1. Stupid Little Love Song: 7 - A pretty good song, but her first track to a first CD should be better. Its a song about a guy she likes, but his world is so perfect and hers is not, so they dont really fir together as a couple. 2. Bye Bye Boyfriend: 10 - AWESOME! this track starts out as a seemingly slow ballad, but by the chorus its tempo and head-bangin guitars come in, makin it a track to listen to more then once 3. Take Me Away: 9 - Fefe's 1st single...its incredible, but the lyrics are kinda strange and dont make a whole lotta sense, but its a great song to turn up! 4. Everything: 10 - probably my 2nd favorite song on the album, and its Fefe's 2nd single! A ballad with a spark, and its great (also on the Perfect Score soundtrack)its a song asking her boyfriend if hes ready to be her "Everything" 5. Rock It Til You Drop It: 6 - kinda mod... sounds DEFINATLEY like an '80s song.... some strange guy utters "Rock It Til You Drop It" in an ultra low voice, but its still fun to dance to:) 6. Revolution Song: 5 - i really dont care about this song, its too slow and Fefe is definatley not on top of her game 7. Kiss Me Fool: 10 - I LOVE THIS SONG!!! definatley the greatest song on the CD.. its got a rockin beat and her voice does well.. the lyrics are great too..."Tell me who should I be to make you love me?/ Tell me what does it mean to be alone?/ Can't you see me standin starrin out from a distance/ hear my cry if youd only listen/ out of focus into me and you" 8. Unforgiven: 8 - a pretty good song, and probably the most wild, head-banging song on the CD... talks about her Dad leaving her and Mom when she was just a kid... very original 9. We Went For a Ride: 6 - Sorry all you out there that love this song, i think its kinda stupid and pointless... talks about riding in a car with you love... its kinda boring and repeats its self alot 10. Give It Up: 8 - a great track, from the first few lines, it seems as if it would be boring, but by the chorus its jammin...it talks about how a guy wants to "do it: with a girl, while she doesn't 11. Julia: 10 - I love this song... a very mature sounding ballad... talks about how her once-best friend Julia changed and betrayed all her old friends 12. 8 x 10: 8 - a pretty good ballad...it really ties the whole CD up and leaves you with a good feeling 13. Rainbow (Bonus Track): 7 - Its an ok ballad...sorta like a modern day "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" from Wizard of Oz Fefe is a great new artist...go out there and buy her CD!!!

How does someone who is supposedly influenced by the sex pistols create awful music like this, I heard bye bye boyfriend at first, thought it was kind of neat, but as the day passes I can't stand to hear another song from this album.

Fefe Dobson is an awesome singer. This album is great, I've been listening everyday since I purchased it. All of her songs rock, but my favorite is "Take Me Away". Take my advice and buy this album, I guarantee you will like it.

For everyone that hasn't heard of Fefe Dobson, you should know that she is an extremely talented singer with an amazing voice. For those of you that HAVE heard of Fefe Dobson, you know that her new single, Take Me Away has been in the TRL top 10 more than once and it is probably one of the best and coolest songs ever! Well, if you like Take Me Away, you'll love all the other songs on her album like Stupid Little Love Song and Bye Bye Boyfriend which could be heard if you bought Fefe's single Take Me Away. Song breakdown: Stupid Little Love Song: sounds like a better version of Avril Lavigne! It's a song pretty much everyone will like! Bye Bye Boyfriend: unexpected! check out the album and you'll see what I mean by that! Take Me Away: perfect for listening to while you're on a road trip with your best friends Everything: if you like Mandy Moore type songs then you'll love this song that just makes you feel free! Rock It Till You Drop It: a totally cool rock/pop song! everyone will love it! Revolution Song: one of the coolest songs! sounds kind of like Lillix except better! Kiss Me Fool: ever feel like playing air guitar? this is one of those songs that will make you want to do that! Unforgiven: a song that makes you just want to go in your room and rock out! We Went For A Ride: a song that's like nothing I've ever heard (that's a good thing) Give It Up: another unexpected song! totally cool and people can relate to it too! Julia: one of the slower songs but it's really cool! 8 X 10: another slower song but it's totally cool how the album starts out fast and gets slower! totally cool right before bed or when you're on a date! Check out Fefe Dobson's new self titled album! Buy it for yourself or as a Christmas gift! You can't go wrong!

This album has really caught my attention. Not many can do that. It's actually to the point that I love every song on Fefe Dobson's CD. "Bye Bye Boyfriend" helped me with my recent break up with my boyfriend. I know it sounds childish, but it really helped get me through it. I've also been having problems with my father lately and "Unforgiven" has helped me to realize that I'm not the only one. This CD is really one of the best ones I've found. It's so great that a younger child can pick it up and listen to it and the parent (or guardian) doesn't have to worry about the language content. It really is a good CD. I suggest to anyone that loves rock, pop, or hip hop to pick it up.

Its the perfect medium between pop and rock, for me anyways..60%rock 40% pop. Her songs are true and real, and she plays her own guitar..really well too. Its has some loud songs, some soft songs, and some groovey songs! This cd is a perfect gift for anyone, and FeFe is so talented, its a must get! stocking stuffer all the way..and thats only half of how cool it is. Ü
