Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly - Publisher's Weekly
The authors interviewed women across the country about ``the unfolding of the sacred in their lives.'' A Seneca elder in upstate New York tells how the stones speak to her. ``I'm just a vessel that God works through,'' says a community worker in Watts, Los Angeles, who radiates love to her ``extended family.'' Other interviewees include a massage therapist, a professor of English, a rabbi, an ex-nun, artists, a Jungian analyst, Maya Angelou and members of a feminist spiritual community in Maine. Anderson, a Zen teacher, and Hopkins, coauthor of Good-bye to Guilt , conduct workshops across the country on feminine spirituality. If their writing has a rosy New Age tinge, the in-depth personal stories they relate are insightful, and their illuminating narrative is structured like a spiritual journey (childhood, leaving home, gateways, entering the sacred garden, relationships) to assist women in defining for themselves what is sacred. Many years ago, I was reading this beautiful book, when I suddenly paused and said to myself, "How long are you going to wait?" The question I was truly asking myself was, "How long are you going to wait to embrace the feminine, sacred nature within you?" From that day forward, I began a profound journey of listening to my inner wisdom and following it. Because of the inspiration I received from reading this extraordinary work of Sherry Ruth Anderson and Patricia Hopkins, I embarked on my own journey—truly accepting my spiritual responsibility for our planet, with the unique wisdom and insights of Sacred Feminine perspective. I am deeply grateful to these two wonderful women and their dedication to the emergence of the Divine feminine in our world today. This book is a fabulous read for anyone ready to imagine the "Feminine Face of God."

Some pages have up to two typos. I am only on page 45 and trying hard not to be frustrated. It is too bad because the content is really good.
