Reviewed by Karina Review originally posted on Romancing the Book Book provided by publisher for review It all started with a car crash. Rach and Craig met in the most inconvenient way which leads to other more encounters. Coincidentally, Rach’s best friend Leah is seeing Craig’s brother, Rick. Rach is one funny girl. She’s a social worker by profession but something happened in work that made her think twice of her chosen profession. So she decided to have some time off from being a social worker and kept her choices open for other jobs. So far other jobs were not meant for her. It always ends up in a disaster. Craig, on the other hand, is a very successful car dealership owner. He’s a workaholic bachelor who sometimes forgets to have fun. When he meets Rach, she instantly caught his attention and made him want to know her more. There’s a lot of bickering and humor with these two. I love how their relationship transformed from hate to love. Add to the picture Leah and Rick and it has been a great ride! I never felt so lighthearted reading a book. But this one made it possible. I laughed so hard from the beginning until the end. If you want a light, fast-paced romance, this one’s for you.
This book was almost perfect. I loved Rachel and her spirited personality. I would love to have a crazy friend like her. Craig was pretty amazing, but at the end in his idiot moment I wanted to kick his booty. The book was perfect except the ending. I felt very conflicted. I wanted them to end up together, but after the mistakes made I felt like the making up was a little understated. If I had that same problem to work out I'm not sure how I would have responded but for such interesting characters I would have hoped for a little wackiness. If I hadn't been so conflicted over the ending I would have given this book a +5 stars as it is I will only give it 4 stars, still awesome just not completely awesome.
Hilarious, charming, light-hearted – this book is awesome. I truly could not put it down. All the characters are believable and loveable. Rachel Bennett is dealing with enough problems when she and Craig Larsen meet in a less than desirable way. However, this little fender bender maybe the best thing that has happen to Rachel in a long time. Roy did an excellent job of including playful banter between the characters of Rachel and Craig. However, they are also supportive of each other and willing to listen and give each other advice. The secondary characters in the book are also very dimensional – I loved the scenes at Rachel’s parents’ house the imagery is so real you will feel like you are visiting as well. Laughing and crying this book has it all – seriously one minute you will be crying tears of laughter and the next you will be crying tears of heartache. There is truly never a dull moment in this book. I mean really a book that includes classic cars, garden gnomes and toilet papering a house – it has a little bit for everybody. You know how you read the synopsis for a story and you think ooohhh, this one is going to be awesome??? I really wanted to like this one! And I didn’t hate it, it just wasn’t all that I was hoping for. It had so much going for it! Rachel was cute! And Craig was awesome! But I think the biggest thing was that I just couldn’t connect with Rachel, and therefore it flopped for me. It had some really great moments, even some laugh out loud moments in it. Which made me keep reading thinking that I was going to hit the point where the book turned the corner and I liked it, but it just never did for me. Don’t you hate when that happens for a book?
