From The CriticsReviewer: Vincent F Carr, DO, MSA, FACC, FACP (Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences)
Description: This book combines a quick clinical reference for clinicians illustrated by the historical artwork of Dr. Netter with a patient education book with many patient-oriented graphics. The previous edition was published in 2010.
Purpose: The author notes that the value of a picture is "worth a thousand words" when discussing a medical condition with a patient. Indeed, the pictures are well presented and intuitive for the situation, e.g. the rash on a child, the anatomical representations of just the pertinent views, and the succinct Dos and Don'ts.
Audience: It is intended for primary care clinicians and is comprehensive and easy to understand.
Features: The book is organized by organ systems and diagnoses with outstanding graphics. There is a web-based version with patient handouts and some topics translated into Spanish. Being able to print these handouts is an extraordinary value.
Assessment: This is one of the best books for both quick clinical reference and patient education available.
