Fame can be a fleeting mistress, and nowhere more so than in the land of dance-pop divas. Many are lucky enough to have a hit album, much less two or three. What usually takes a one-hit wonder from the singles charts to career diva lies less in catchy hooks than in a combination of talent and the choice of collaborators. Obviously, the master of this technique is Madonna, whose talent and eye for talent in others has made her not only a worldwide pop sensation, but a worldwide icon. Arguably, running a close second is Kylie Minogue. Starting off as not much more than a female voice for the massively successful Stock, Aitken & Waterman hit factory, she moved on to work with some of the most prominent dance producers of the early '90s, making her one of the most visible pop stars outside of the United States. By 1997, she moved on to working with writers outside the genre. While this may have translated into poor record sales, her motives were in the right place. With 2001's Fever, Minogue combines the disco-diva comeback of the previous year's Light Years with the trend of simple dance rhythms which was prevalent in the teen dance-pop craze of the years surrounding the album's release. While on the surface that might seem like an old dog trying to learn new tricks, Minogue pulls it off with surprising ease. The first single, "Cant Get You Out of My Head," is a sparse, mid-tempo dance number that pulses and grooves like no other she's recorded, and nothing on Light Years was as funky as the pure disco closer of "Burning Up." And while it's hard not to notice her tipping her hat to the teen pop sound in fact, on this record she works with Cathy Dennis, former dance-pop star and writer/producer for Brit-teen pop group S Club 7 on songs like "Give It to Me" and "Love at First Sight," her maturity helps transcend this limiting tag, making this a very stylish Euro-flavored dance-pop record that will appeal to all ages. Not one weak track, not one misplaced syrupy ballad to ruin the groove. The winning streak continues. [The U.S. version, released in early March of 2002, included the hidden tracks "Boy" and "Butterfly" -- a B-side and Light Years album track, respectively.]

Love At First Sight, Love Affair

What a blasting, dancing album. Kylie made her songs so danceable that I feel the goddess in me. She's totally a singing and dancing god.

    Great Car Music

Home from college and being dragged off to some island for a family vacation isn't my idea of a good time but this definitely got me through the six hour drive in a good mood. All the songs are fast and nothings slow and downing. Dancefloor's my favorite

    CONSISTANTLY GREAT

A miracle: an album in which every song is a winner, with no dreary fillers. Much of the time there's two good songs on an album and the rest is dreck. I just discovered Kylie, and it's a revelation. So many good songs crammed onto one CD. A must-buy.

Why did it take me so long to discover Kylie?

Madonna has a challenge to the pop throne, Kylie. I first hear Kylie today when her album Fever caught my eye at the music shop. Hip, rich, innovative, sexy. I can't get get her out of my head!

    A Catchy Fever

Looking for that perfect CD to play when you're with that special someone? Just pop in "Fever" and let nature take it's course. I was pleasantly surprised when first listening, and give Minogue credit I never did before because she has put out one of the best collection of dance songs in decades. Whether you're in the mood for romance, or a dance party, or you want to work out at the gym, "Fever" will be your best companion. The songs ignite with sexual tension, romantic bliss, and starry-eyed love. Minogue's voice is clear and pop with a knowning sexuality once heard in the voices of Madonna and Deborah Harry. The songs are blended with modern techo beats and a hint of disco grooves from way back when. "Love at First Sight" is one of the best dance songs ever recorded, but the entire CD contains dance grooves that leave you wanting "More, More, More" after your first listen. Kylie has struck a chord and her symptoms are contagious.

Kylie is back with the best album of 2002!

It comes once in a blue moon that there's an album that's perfect from track one to the end. With Kylie Minogue's "Fever", there was one word to describe the overall music on the album, "flawless". What is rather amazing about this album is that it seems that the momentum of the music as the album progresses seems to grow with one William Orbit-style dance tune after another. Tell me you can't listen to "Love At First Sight" without having any feel. It's nice to see that this Aussie is more that just the "Locomotion". A lot more.

This is one of the best CDs to come out in a long time...I love it!! It is a definite feel good album full of upbeat dance songs, great hooks and a great groove throughout the entire CD. There is not a weak moment and I guarantee you will find your feet moving to this one.

    Disposable

Just like Britney, this is a candy coated, fake and plasticy shot at pop at its most ultimately disposable. Nasal and thin vocals and embarrasing lyrics is what makes this album a tacky and kitsch classic, full of dated disco sounds and beats that would have sounded better in the late '80's, this is Kylie Minogue having another stab at the credibility stakes. This time it'll work because it's horribly lightweight that will appeal to the teenage music buying public. Don't worry about the meaning. There is none. Just dance your cares away. It will make your life better for a short moment. As soon as the music ends though you will be left empty in need of some proper music. This may not be Alanis or Madonna. But it will give Britney a run for her money. Fake sexiness and trite over-sexual lyrics will make you laugh and cringe. But still the music has its moments even though it's horribly dismal and generic and repetitive for the most part.

    Constant Requests

I work for a popular well-listened-to radio station in Seattle and we are constantly getting requests for Kylie Minogues ''Can't Get You Out Of My Head''. With all the ''bubble-gum pop princesses'' ruling the charts, Kylie is putting up a good fight. I hope she wins!

Disco ain't dead, it just moved to Australia

Kylie Minogue is not new, but this is the best disco album I've heard in a long time. It's a lot of fun to listen to, and although it won't be winning any Grammy awards, it's my favorite CD to listen to when I stuck in traffic.

A Fresh Sound for a Classic Artist

I have been a huge Kylie fan since I first heard her in the UK. I am so thrilled she is going to realease ''Fever'' in America! It's about time she got some U.S. success. I won't spoil it too much, but let me say, if you like ''Can't Get you Outta my Head'' you'll love the album. It is a lot like the techno dance remixes of Madonna songs mached with Kylie's infecious voice and lyrics. After a few listens, you'll definately catch a bit of ''Fever'' !

    Huge in Europe

This is one of the most popular albums to hit Europe in the 7 years I've lived here. Just give Kylie a chance and I'm sure you'll like it.

    Amazing!

The whole album is just awesome!! ''Can't Get You Outta My Head'' is the most aptly titled song in decades, and ''Fever,'' and ''In Your Eyes'' are great songs, too! It's about time they sold some Kylie in the US!

    I've looked everywhere for you

I would hear the song ''Can't Get You Out of my Head'' but never heard who the artist was. Now that I know I want everyone to know Kylie Minoque is the bomb diggity, and no you are not worthy. That's ok. because neither am I.

    Excellent!

This is an excellent album filled with perfectly crafted pop songs that will no doubt appeal to a wide range of listeners. Kylie Minogue's vocals are sexy and competent while the music is catchy and driven by memorable melodies. This is a great album to listen to if you're in the mood to dance or just have fun. Overall an excellent album that is highly recommended for people of all ages. Also a great place to start if you're just discovering Kylie Minogue's beautiful voice. Enjoy!
