Sabrina Cassidy believes in fate. So when her fiancé breaks off their engagement, she’s convinced they’ll get back together eventually. But fate was not on her side when it brought Jack Brenner into her life—and work. Frustrating, gorgeous, and cocky, Jack has an offer that Sabrina can't refuse. Oh my goodness, I LOVED this book. Seriously, just so adorable I can't even. LOVED Sabrina and Jack's story so hard.
Okay, full review time. This story is about Sabrina and Jack. Sabrina is on a "break" with her fiance and is desperate to have him back. After all, fate told her that they're meant to be together. Enter Jack, bachelor oh so hot and in need of a makeover. His dad, and board of directors, thinks that he needs to settle down, even though Jack doesn't believe in marriage. So he does the next best thing, he convinces Sabrina to be his fake girlfriend. After all, she's the perfect example of the kind of girl his dad wants to see him with and she's ready to have her fiance back. I don't know if here comes trouble or let the fun begin is the best way to describe where it goes from there.
I loved everything about this book. It was such a cute, fun read, full of emotion and adorableness. I loved Sabrina's character, especially when she was around Jack. Those two really can't stand each other, which makes it that much more fun to watch them interact. And I love how Jack brings out a side of Sabrina that's strong and confident. Something her jerk of a fiance doesn't see her as and that's reason number one out a billion why her fiance is a jerk. Ha. Anyway, Jack. Let's talk about Jack. I have a serious love for guys who's whole outlook on life changes when the right girl walks into their lives. He's a great guy as it is, but Sabrina brings out those protective qualities right to the top and it's so adorable to watch. I just loved these two together and so glad I got to read their story. Jennifer has a way of crafting a believable and lovable story, full of tension and misunderstandings and discovering what you really want in life. And just how fun it is when you take fate into your own hands. This book is now out and you should get it and read it! :-D

LOVED everything about this one. It was fun to read and their witty banter always made me smile. I read the whole thing in practically one day and had a really hard time waiting to post my review (so it'd be after the release date-some sites don't let you review something that isn't out). Definitely one I'd recommend! I'm planning on picking up more of her books now.

Fiancé by Fate is a must read by Jennifer Shirk.  Sabrina Cassid

Fiancé by Fate is a must read by Jennifer Shirk.  Sabrina Cassidy believes she met her fiance by fate.  When he wants to take a break she feel fate will bring them back together.  Fate doesn't seem to be on her side.   Jack Brenner is trying to show is father he ready to start working on his future as head of the family business.   Jack's father tells him he needs to turn things around in his life before he will get him prepared to take over the family business.

This was story of two people who are looking for different things in life needing each others help to find it.   The story had me swooning.

I love Sabrina.  In the story you can't help for Sabrina to find happiness.   At first look you might not like Jack but he truly a great man at heart.  I loved watching this character as they realize what they try want.

I had a hard time putting this book down.   I found the story to be well written.  As read I couldn't wait to see what would happen next.

    5 swoonworth stars from me.
I haven't read anything by Jennifer Shirk before, but that's about to change because if her previous offerings are half as good as this, I'll be a happy woman. Sweet light romance is combined with humour and touching heartfelt moments making Fiancé by Fate a perfect read.

Sabrina Cassidy's Fiancé has just broken off their engagement. No reason, just wants a bit of space i.e he is a douchebag. She has faith he's still the one and after visiting a crazy psychic, she's convinced it's all part of her path to happiness. Yeah. Right-o. Jack Brenner is her boss' workaholic son with a playboy reputation. He's also exceptionally sexy, witty, kind and charming. She sees him as a self-centred arrogant player and he sees her as Miss Perfect, but when thrown together at work they realise that a faux-mance could be beneficial to them both...

What can I say, I loved them and their journey. Their chemistry burns throughout and their banter, snark and sniping was full of wit, humour and frustration. And Jack, oh he was just divine; honestly every time the man went in for the kiss, my stomach flipped. This rarely happens with a kiss, yes I swoon and sigh, but flips tend to be reserved for more intimate activities. Of which there are none - probably a good thing or lord knows what would've occurred.

Fiancé by Fate is another excellent addition to the Bliss line (of which I have read many), it's a book I will certainly read again and if a sweet easy-read romance that will make you smile and sigh is what you're after, this is all that and more.

I received a copy of this courtesy of Entangled Publishing for an honest and unbiased opinion.

    Loved it

I loved this story. Yes its only 170 pgs but good pages. The characters are well developed and you could relate to them.
Sabrina is going through a tough time. Her fiancee decided he needed a break to see if he really wanted to be married to her. She is heart broken and lost in life, then her boss says his don is coming back to the company and he will be her partner. She and jack didnt see eye to eye on most things. He was the playboy and she the planner. But when jacks dad tells he cant have the job due to his playboy issues that could give the family company a bad name. He freaks and asks sabrina to be his fake girlfriend. He would get the job and she could make david jealous and win him back. A win win for both of them. Until they fall in love with each other. Fiance by Fate is a really cute read. It features a fake engagem

Fiance by Fate is a really cute read. It features a fake engagement, a troupe which--when done well--can be a lot of fun.

Sabrina Cassidy has long felt as if her life was not in her control. Losing her parents at a young age, she bounced around the foster care system for years, yearning for a real family. As an adult, she still craves the type of stable family life she never had, and is sure that's she's found her big chance for one--with her fiance David. He's a doctor. He's handsome and has a family that has welcomed her in with open arms. All the signs needed to start her perfect new life are in place. Destiny is smiling down at her.

There's just one tiny problem. David's asked Sabrina for a short break. A hiatus, if you will, from their engagement.

Sabrina's sure it's just a blip; though she does head to a psychic to get confirmation from fate. The psychic's no dummy--she (or is it he? Sabrina isn't even sure) tells Sabrina exactly what she wants to hear--or at least tells her some vague reassurances that Sabrina's more than happy to turn into the corroboration she's looking for. Perfect--now all she has to do is sit back and wait for David to come back to her.

Except he isn't. Maybe he needs a little push?

Enter Jack Brenner. He might be one of Boston's most eligible bachelors. but he's also Sabrina's boss's son and a heartless and self-centered playboy. When fate--darn it, Sabrina was sure that fickle entity was supposed to be on her side--puts the two of them in close proximity at work, Sabrina resigns herself to having to make the best of a bad situation.

Mr. Brenner's been ill, and Jack has moved back to Boston hoping to lighten his load and take on more responsibility at the company. When his father tells him the promotion he wants is contingent on his showing more maturity in his personal life, Jack manages to convince Sabrina to fake date him for a while. It seems like the perfect plan--he gets a new job, she uses jealousy to get her fiance back. What could possibly go wrong?

(Yeah, I know. But luckily characters in romance novels never can see the glaring neon signs that are flashing the words BAD IDEA just above their heads. ;) )

Naturally you know where these two antagonists are going to end up...but of course it's their journey in getting there that's so much fun.

Watching their relationship go from antagonistic to grudging respect to friendship to something more is like a guilty pleasure. You can't help but root for these two to get their heads screwed on straight and realize that, hello, they're perfect for each other.

If you're looking for a fluffy and flirty story to pass the time with, Fiance by Fate might be just what the orthopedic surgeon ordered. ;)

    Chicklit at it's best

Sabrina is an International Wholesaler with Brenner Capital Investments. Even though she is very good at her job and well regarded in the work place all Sabrina really wants is to get married and have a 'family' that she can call her own. This is something that she has never had. All seems to be going perfectly in her life until her fiancé, David, tells her he needs a break from their relationship so he can think things over. All Sabrina wants is to marry David.
Jack, the son of Leonard Brenner founder of Brenner Capital Investments, is known as a womaniser and can't commit to a serious relationship. His father tells him if he wants to move up in the firm he must show him he can settle down as he doesn’t want the firm getting any adverse publicity.
Jack and Sabrina are thrust together in a working relationship and quickly realise that a fake personal relationship can help both of them reach their dreams.

WOW!! Chicklit at it’s best. Right from the beginning you know how the story will pan out, but it’s the journey to the finale that was the fun.
The story flowed well and the characters of Sabrina and Jack developed slowly showing small snippets of their true personality slipping through their outer veneer. Sabrina wasn’t really the uptight miss perfect she appeared to be and Jack wasn’t the womaniser that cared little for his family.
I loved the interaction and banter between Sabrina and Jack. Lots of humour dispersed through the story had me laughing out loud at times.

“Blindly. Her lips continued to follow his, and all thoughts of who she was kissing and even why flew out the window. She could barely remember her own name.”

Jennifer Shirk shows us how you don’t need steamy sex scenes to write a perfect love story.

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I thought this book was great!  There are interesting characters who grow and change over the course of the story.
Both Sabrina and Jack mature as they realize that what they thought they wanted is not what will make them happy.

At the beginning of the book, Sabrina is frustrated that her fiancé David has decided they need a break from each
other.  To be sure of what they really want.  Jack thinks it is time for a big promotion in the family company, but his
Dad thinks he needs to show he has his priorities straight, maybe settle down a little.  So Jack comes up with a
great plan for them to both get what they want.  Jack and Sabrina will pretend they are dating, making David jealous
     and Jack's Dad satisfied.

But as Sabrina and Jack start to spend time together, they each start to question their motives and ultimate goals,
making the pretend relationship a little more complicated.

This book is clean (a few PG swear words, not enough to make me put it down), funny, and a great escape novel.

A truly sweet romance which will leave you smiling

    Reviewed by Kim
for Read Your Writes Book Reviews

Merriam-Webster defines “Bliss” as complete happiness. Reading Fiance by Fate will definitely put you in a state of bliss. Jennifer Shirk has written a truly sweet romance that will leave you smiling.

Jack Brenner has just been transferred back to the Boston office of Brenner Capital Investments. His thought is that this move is the gateway to the National Sales Manager position, which will eventually put him on track to run the company founded by his father. Unfortunately, Jack’s playboy lifestyle is about to get in the way.

Sabrina Cassidy is “little miss perfect”. Sabrina is almost 30-years-old and desperately wants to have a family and be stable; something she never experienced while being bounced around in foster homes. She’s a little delusional in her thoughts that she and her former fiance David will get back together. Sabrina has even gone as far as to consult a psychic in her attempt to make sure her and David are destined to be together.

Jack’s transfer to the Boston office now means that Sabrina, who is an internal wholesaler at Brenner Capital will now be working with him. Jack is everything Sabrina dislikes. She thinks he takes his family for granted, is a playboy, and never takes anything seriously. More importantly, she thinks he’s only gotten jobs within the company because his father owns it.

When Jack finds out that he isn’t going to get the position because of his personal life, he comes up with the idea of having Sabrina pretend to be his girlfriend. After all, having someone who is as wholesome and straight as an arrow like Sabrina is bound to make him look like a stable guy. In return for Sabrina helping him, Jack agrees to help Sabrina get David back. After all, if David really has cold feet as Sabrina thinks, then making him jealous will have him running back to her.

I will admit that Sabrina can be a little irritating with her psychic/astrologistic belief that she’s going to get back together with David. But this is something that has to be overlooked based on the way she grew up.

I loved that this was a truly sweet romance. One of Sabrina’s rules for her and Jack’s arrangement was no kissing. Yeah well, that rule got thrown out the window fast. But that’s as far as it goes. Fiance by Fate takes you on a journey where two people initially have thoughts and beliefs about each other, only to have those misguided thoughts disappear once they start to get to know each other. Once you get into the book, you aren’t going to want to put it down. After all, “You are still the creator of your own destiny. Don't overlook the journey.”

    4 Stars!
So the story begins with Sabrina and her fiancé being on a…what do you call it? Mutual break from their relationship, so technically Sabrina really isn’t engaged to David. By mutual I mean, David suggested the break and Sabrina wasn’t too happy about it, but what could she do? She wants to be with David so bad and be a part of his family, to make them her family which is what she’s always wanted, a family.
After a month of their separation Sabrina sees the man she loves so very much out with another woman. David says she is a fellow employee at the hospital where he works, but Sabrina is jealous, sad really. She believes they’re friends, but she’s still sad her and David aren’t together after a month apart.
So when Jack, her new boss, suggests her and Jack enter into a fake relationship, to please his father and the board and to make her David jealous which in turn will allow Jack to get the position he desperately wants and for Sabrina to make David jealous and fight to be with her again. Everything sounds perfect, the plan is sound, but no plan ever ends up being perfect.
That’s when feelings become fishy, personalities once hidden, rear their ugly faces, and one thing leads to another until Sabrina, Jack and David are caught up in a web of lies and deceit that the light at the end of the tunnel doesn’t look as bright as it did in the beginning. So what are they going to do? Will Sabrina win David back? Will Jack get his promotion he wants and believes he needs? Or will nothing go according to plan and every dream Sabrina and Jack had in the beginning, now just be lost in the sea of dreams? Read and find out.
It is definitely worth it to go and buy the book to find out how Sabrina and Jack’s story turns out. It may just surprise you; it definitely surprised me, a little. I like to believe in the princess and the prince being together in the end. You could say I have a thing for happily ever after’s, so I wasn’t too surprised, but I was happy in the end.
The ending was predictable, but the story, the build up to the end was worth it. It was a wonderful; one-sitting read-well that is if you’re like me and never want to put a book down once you start it. It’s a beautiful story of finding perfection in a person who is flawed and loving them anyways. We’re all a little flawed, thinking no one could love us for the flaws we carry, but this story just shows that there is a person who will love you, no matter your flaws, because love is funny like that. No one can choose who they fall in love with, they just need to find The One person who they love so much they’re flaws are things that make them love that person even more.

A fun and light-hearted read with witty banter!

I fell in love with Fiance by Fate! It was fun, flirty, and full of witty banter. Sabrina decides to patiently wait for her ex-fiance who just needs some 'time' to make sure he is ready for marriage. Now me, I would run the other direction if my fiance had already proposed and then decided he needed more time to be ready! Really? Anyway, Sabrina is convinced they are so right for each other but she continues to see him with this other woman.
Enter the annoyingly-drop-dead-gorgeous and conveniently single Jack. Convenience and a pay-off for both brings the two into a fake relationship. This is where the fireworks begin! Bring on the swoon worthy kisses and the heart pounding love connection! If only the two can wake up and realize what they have together! I loved the run-ins with Sabrina's ex, the over protectiveness of Jack and the chemistry was sizzling hot! If you enjoy a light-hearted romance with laughter, this is the book for you! It kept me page-turning to the very end! A wonderfully well written book that I will read again and again!

The characters shine in this cute, funny romance.

Sabrina Cassidy's anticipated happy-ever-after ending screeches to an abrupt halt following her ex-fiance's decision to stop and think about their relationship. Sabrina is left berefit and doesn't think her life could get any worse. Then... another whammy hits her when Sabrina discovers that she has to work closely with the boss' son who is NOT her favorite person since he garnered a promotion that should have been hers. When her new manager proposes an arrangement that could work out to be beneficial to both of them, she decides to play along after seeing her ex with a beautiful red-head as Sabrina will do anything if it wins her ex back.

Jack Brenner is one of the town’s most eligible bachelors. Jack is quite the ladies' man but he makes very sure that his heart is never involved. Now Jack wants the position of National Sales Manager and his father and the Board will only give it to him if he's ready to settle down. Hence... he proposes a fake engagement with Sabrina as a win-win for both of them and he can be very persuasive.

Sabrina was smart in many ways, but also an alternately feisty and clingy character. I wanted to yell at her to open her eyes to how fake her ex was. Jack came across as chauvinistic at first, but he quickly matured into a yummy romantic character and I was definitely pulling for him. The bantering between the characters was often laugh-out-loud funny. The physic element was hilarious and I'm a believer in physics! The writing was polished and the story kept me entertained from beginning to end.

I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys light and playful contemporary romances. This was the 1st book I've ever read by Jennifer Shirk and it won't be the last!

    Very good!

I really enjoyed this book. I'd put it at 3.5 stars. The storyline was cute and quite predictable but isn't that what you're looking for in a romance? I mean, if the guy doesn't end up with the girl, what's the point of reading it!

There were a few detailed kissing scenes which made me wonder if there were going to be detailed bedroom scenes. I am happy to report that there were no bedroom scenes!

I really liked the banter between Jack and Sabrina. It was interesting that Sabrina was so into being superstitious. Not really my thing, but at least it was a consistent theme in the book rather than just haphazardly thrown in.

This was a quick read and I was able to read the whole thing during my kids' nap time and after they went to bed without staying up late to finish. I enjoyed it. It was a fun escape! Thanks!

I absolutely loved this book. It was lighthearted, witty, charming, engaging, and at times had me smirking at the banter between the hero and the heroine. I liked how the hero and heroine's relationship developed gradually over time. Both of their feelings and opinions about one another gradually changed during the course of the book. They both were astonished when they finally realized they were in love. I liked how they did not jump into bed right away. That is a big pet peeve for me. The hero is described as a lovable, charming playboy. I liked him from the first to the last page of the book. He never came across as a jerk to me. I felt he had underlying feelings for the heroine and was not able to deal with said feelings so he teased and taunted her. I love when a playboys meet the right woman and give up their ways. He was perceptive in that he saw right through the heroine's sleaze of a fiancé. He also was protective and had the heroines best interests at heart. The hero never took undue advantage of the heroine because of their pretend arrangement. The heroine had a difficult childhood. Her parents were killed in a car crash and so she was raised in numerous faster homes. She eventually learned to close off her heart. She desired above all stability and security in a relationship. Her fiancé gives her that, but nothing else. I felt she had not connection with him and overlooked his faults. Overall, I would recommend this contemporary romance to anyone who loves when a hero is brought to his knees by the heroine.

This review is coming from a reader. I read for the enjoyment of escaping my everyday life. I have no intention of criticizing the authors method of writing. I bow to a talent I don't have but seriously enjoy partaking of. My biggest compliment to the author is that she was able to write a CLEAN romance with out it going stale. Just the right amount of heat to keep it real without becoming distasteful. Apparently that is very difficult nowadays. I love having a confident male lead that falls for a level headed woman. Not going to go into details as that has already been covered in other reviews, just wanted to give Jennifer a thumb's up and say Keep them coming!

I am usually a sucker for a "fake" relationship, where the couple falls in love trying to fool everyone. Fiancé by Fate fell a little flat for me because the heroine Sabrina was into psychics, was a doormat for her ex/current boyfriend, and just wasn't a memorable character. I did enjoy the hero Jack, a modern "rake"  who is fooled by his father into needing a relationship. He transforms throughout the story into the perfect boyfriend for Sabrina.

This story was ok, but it fell a little short for me.  I recipe end a ARC copy for an honest review.
