Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
An estimated 26 million Americans have either fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS), myofascial pain syndrome (MPS), or both in the form of an FMS/MPS complex. The volume by Starlanyl, a physician who specializes in the research and treatment of FMS/MPS and who has both conditions, and Copeland, a writer and FMS/MPS patient, discuss all aspects of both disorders. They also offer information on the latest medications, tips for bodywork, and suggestions for coping with family and work, getting support, and dealing with the healthcare system. Appendixes include lists of agencies and organizations and of audio and video aids. Both books are recommended for consumer health collections, but if only one can be purchased, Starlanyl and Copeland's work has the edge due to its greater scope and more comprehensive coverage.Janet M. Coggan, Univ. of Florida Libs., Gainesville

A Fibro Suffers bible - everything you want to know

This book is fantastic! After being diagnosed, I had purchased several books on the subject. The rest are gathering dust! The book is written for the patient and is easy to understand. I have used it as my referance in talking to my healthcare providers as well as educating my family and friends. This book is a must for any patient with FM and/or CMS!

    It is my Fibro-Bible!

I have purchased several books about fibromyalgia. This one is the best. I don't need any of the others, because I always end up coming back to this one for clarity and the details that are left out elsewhere. Devin Starlanyl is an extremely knowledgeable woman who has fibromyalgia and chronic myofacia pain. She is a doctor and she understands the medical system. She doesn't omit the details that 'outsiders' would never think of. She provides structure for managing your everyday life, and for building and working with a team of professionals. There is a great index and many references which can lead you to more help locally, and on the internet.

FMS and CMP patient saved by this book

I can't even begin to explain how this book has helped me in understanding and accepting both illnesses. I was diagnosed nearly a year ago and I still reference it nearly every day. In fact, I am thinking of getting copies for family members- I can't part with my copy long enough to even lend it to a family member. If you or someone you know has FMS/CMP, get this book. It will be one of the best things you've ever done. Devin Starlanyl is a hero in my eyes.

    A FM Sufferer

This book is for anyone who has fibromyalgia or who knows someone suffering from this horrible affliction. It is so hard to try to explain what fibromyalgia is when others ask, and this book does such a wonderful job of doing just that. It's a great reference tool for me - I find myself going back to it time and time again and making notes in the margins. This is the best book I have found so far and I strongly recommend it to all FM patients.

All the info in one book!

This book has been wonderful! There are so many different areas that fibromyalgia affects you and it so hard to find something that ties it all together for you in one book. It helps you not to feel alone in what you are going through.

    Handy and useful!

New Harbinger has done an excellent job once again. They give you many tools to work with to help you solve your problem. I also liked another book of theirs "The Multifidus Back Pain Solution" if you have back pain with your fibromyalgia. Together, I don't think your back pain stands a chance!

    Very good book

I have chronic myofascial pain and I fould this book to be the best out of many. I would reccomend it to everyone with this syndrome. It has explained CMP better than the doctors and is a helpful guide in dealing with the pain.

    buy this one

I reviewed all the books at bn store on this topic before purchasing this book. I found this book to be the most complete book on the subject, it gave so much medical information, it gave complete lists of all the sources of information, and is practical. I am reading every page and highlighting it. I plan to take it with me to the doctors.
