Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
An estimated 26 million Americans have either fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS), myofascial pain syndrome (MPS), or both in the form of an FMS/MPS complex. The volume by Starlanyl, a physician who specializes in the research and treatment of FMS/MPS and who has both conditions, and Copeland, a writer and FMS/MPS patient, discuss all aspects of both disorders. They also offer information on the latest medications, tips for bodywork, and suggestions for coping with family and work, getting support, and dealing with the healthcare system. Appendixes include lists of agencies and organizations and of audio and video aids. Both books are recommended for consumer health collections, but if only one can be purchased, Starlanyl and Copeland's work has the edge due to its greater scope and more comprehensive coverage.Janet M. Coggan, Univ. of Florida Libs., Gainesville

An Extensive and Very Thorough Look at FMS/MFS!

This is certainly the most informative book on FMS I've read. It covered just about everything I wanted to know and then some! The chapters on alternative treatments and Guaifenesin therapy were very encouraging. It also conveys to the fibromyalgia patient that pain is just the 'tip of the iceberg' (there's a lot more going on in the body that I certainly wasn't aware of before). If you want just one book on FMS in your collection this is the one to have!

A window to the fms/mps patient's daily life

I bought this book while in an FMS/MPS flare and found symptoms I thought were totally unrelated were indeed a part of the syndrome. This book helps you understand the causes, symptoms and aids in coping and taking control.

Wonderful and very informational for those with FMS or CFS

When reading this, you finally feel somebody understands what you're going through and you are not NUTS. It's real and it's not all in your head. So read on. It's very informational as far as what you need to file disability if you can no longer work.

A must have book for anyone with FMS

This book has helped me more than any other book I have read. I had two doctors recommend this book. It is so informative and explains a lot of things that you don't normally find elsewhere. This book may cost a little more than others --- but in the long run you'll save money because this book will answer more of your questions, and it explores other things that are related to FMS -- things you may not have realized were connected. A MUST read!!! Good luck to everyone out there who has FMS -- there may not be a cure but there are many people who care ~~ it's just a matter of finding those people.
