Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
"This book is full of useful advice for living better with fibromyalgia. Only someone like Miryam Williamson, who's been there and understands, could have written it."— Timothy McCall, M.D., author of Examining Your Doctor

"This is an invaluable book for those who suffer from fibromyalgia and chronic pain and fatigue. It's full of wise and gentle ways to make life more comfortable and productive .... Miryam Williamson has filled a much-needed gap in current publications by laying out simply and completely a guide to a better way of life for those in need."— R. Paul St. Amand, M.D., Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Harbor General UCLA

Library Journal
Williamson, who has suffered from fibromyalgia (FM) since childhood, is coauthor of the excellent Fibromyalgia: A Comprehensive Approach (LJ 9/15/96), and now adds this practical self-help guide to her acomplishments. In it, she discusses ways FM patients can manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life, from diet and supplements to strategies such as ergonomics and energy conservation tips. The chapters on traveling and sleep are especially useful. Williamson writes in a straightforward, direct manner that makes the material easy to comprehend. A helpful section on resources adds to the title's value. The growing number of people diagnosed with FM makes Williamson's patient education book very timely. Highly recommended for consumer health/patient education collections in all libraries.--Janet Coggan, Univ. of Florida Libs., Gainesville

    Relief & More

I have been increasingly concerned over a variety of symptoms and have sought medical advice. Over the past 5 years, diagnoses have included arthritis, depression, anxiety, and menopause. With all the conflicting professional and personal opinions, I became even more agitated and unsure. 'By-guess-and-by-golly' self diagnosis brought me to fibromyalgia. I cried after reading the first page of Chapter 1. Description of symptoms was so precise. Physicians have been diagnosing this disease as 'fin-de-siecle' while I have honestly been suffering.
