    'Field Adventures' captures the magic

This book is one of those rare, personal volumes that captures the very essence of this science we love. We all know there is a magic about fossils, some indescribable essence we can't quite put our finger on. Field Adventures in Paleontology is driven by this very magic, and proceeds to document a lifetime of discovery and amazement. What is unique about this book is that, unlike the majority of books that deal with dinosaur digs and fossil collecting trips, this volume combines wonder with biography. By the end of the book, we have a new appreciation of Lynne's dedication, and a newfound sense of the volunteer effort that is so crucial to paleontology. No other book I've read has captured the very essence of paleontological discovery--the processes that are required to find a fossil and bring it home, the very meaning of this science--like this book. This book is a page-turner, because it reminds us why we all hunt for fossils in the first place, and why we keep our passion in spite of all the work it requires. Field Adventures is paleontology at its core essence.
