Overview

Best-selling author of Amish Christian Romances, Sarah Price introduces readers to the world of the Amish in Fields of Corn, the first book in her Amish of Lancaster Series. Based in part on the author's real experiences living among the Amish, readers will get a glimpse into the lives of the Lapp family.

In Fields of Corn, Shana Slater, a non-Amish woman from out of state, doesn't realize that her life is about to change when she pulls into the Lapp farm in Leola, Pennsylvania, to inquire about renting a small apartment over a mule shed. Yet, the price is right and the rolling fields of corn present a peaceful place for her to retreat when she is not working in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Her curiosity about the Amish way of life is piqued when she befriends Emanuel Lapp, the son of her landlord. As she learns about the Amish through his eyes, she quickly realizes that the Amish way of life is more than just religion and a plain way of living. She also discovers that the more she learns, the more she is unexpectedly falling for much more than their plain and simple lifestyle. When two worlds collide, which will survive and at what cost?

Based in part on the author's experience living on an Amish farm, Fields of Corn presents a sweet and authentic love story.

Meet the Author

The Preiss family emigrated from Europe in 1705, settling in Pennsylvania as the area's first wave of Mennonite families. Sarah Price has always respected and honored her ancestors through exploration and research about her family history and their religion.

At nineteen, she befriended an Amish family and lived on their farm throughout the years. Twenty-five years later, she now splits her time between her husband and children in the NYC Metro area and a home that she shares with an Amish woman in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania where she retreats to reflect and write. As a masterful storyteller, Sarah Price prides herself on presenting an authentic Amish experience for her readers. Many of her stories are based on actual people she has met and her own experiences living among the Amish over the years.

    Realistic amish book

Author says she lived on an amish farm. I believe it. A good read. seems true to the faith and the people but interesting, not just about religion. I really like these amish books and I see that the author just published another one. I'm buying that one next to see how it measures up.

If you like Amish fiction, this is a good one...

I must say that this book is refreshing. It's different than a lot of the other Amish fiction that I've read. The characters are more realistic and the story goes further than other authors take theirs. Shana is a non-Amish woman who meets up with Emanuel, an Amish man. Without giving away the story, it's apparent from the beginning that they fall for each other. But this writer really dives into what happens before, during, and after.

I really enjoyed the writing and the story flow. I'm just about to start the next one, Hills of Wheat. Looking forward to it.

Super book describing an outsider learning about Amish life.

Just finished this. Very thoughtful introduction into Amish life as seen by the woman who rents a house from them. Would like to see a second book as to the lives of the others in the plot. Nice to read a book with no four letter words added. Great interaction with the plot characters as well. I will read it again!

    A Pleasure To Read
Living in a small Amish community, there were several things I noticed, not to be the true Amish way. However, overall I would say I truly enjoyed this book, and plan to read the series. I read only Amish novels, and would highly recommend this one.
