Overview

Fields of Gold takes us on a journey with Miranda Wallace, a young woman with a heart for God, a mind for truth, and a yearning to be adored by a man who will love her completely, inside and out.

David Youngblood, the earl of Cannock, is missing and presumed dead, a victim of his own wicked schemes. Grieving his loss is his daughter, Elspeth, a little girl who has barely begun to know her father and whose physical deformity has already brought her a world of sorrow. Miranda Wallace's heart goes out to Elspeth. From her own disfigurement, Miranda knows too well the grief reserved for the unlovely. Taking the role of Elspeth's governess at the Castle Greywalls, Miranda quickly becomes close friends with her young charge. But conflict enters when David's uncle arrives in Scotland to claim his inheritance. A gifted composer whose life has been spent in the pursuit of beauty, the handsome Tobin Youngblood has little use for a girl and a woman with faces so marred. Indignation flares within the spirited Miranda — and yet, her soul is moved by Tobin's music in a way she's never known. Can she guard her heart from a man who has deep lessons to learn about true beauty? Circumstances are about to force the issue. For the evil Claude Mirreault has a vendetta against those Miranda loves best, and even now it is in motion. Fields of Gold is the second book in the Shades of Eternity series by Lisa Samson. Filled with the splendor and romance of historical Europe, these well-crafted novels trace one family's journey of faith in the lives and loves of its members in the mid-nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Look for the upcoming book three, Crimson Skies.

Author Biography: Lisa Samson is the author of several romance novels, including the best-selling The Highlander and His Lady and the recent Indigo Waters. She lives in Bel Air, MD, with her husband and children.

    Lisa, I LOVE YOU!

Who would have expected for such a perfect story to be written while on earth? This novel is just as magnificent as the first, Indigo Waters. It will and has captivated anyone who reads it. It really is a story that everyone should read. The lesson of true beauty coming from the heart is one that today's society really needs to figure out. Disfigured Miranda Wallace is one of the most beautiful people that I have ever had the pleasure to read about. Congratulations to Lisa Samson for another splendid novel in her series!

A compelling story in an age where physical beauty is a divine attribute!

Lisa Samson creates characters you love to hate and hate to love. I appreciate a heroine whose blemished outward appearance means nothing compared to the beauty of her soul. As a mother of a teenage daughter, I applaud Lisa Samson for showing God's definition of beauty, not today's skewed version which compells sixteen year olds to get breat implants. I wholeheartedly recommend this book and look forward to the third and last book in this series.

I'd love to have Miranda over for tea!

Lisa Samson continues the story of people we already loved and people we hated in Indigo Waters. I really loved watching the growth of the characters. Each one coming to terms with fightings and fears within themselves. Miranda Wallace is a lovely heroine; I'd love to have her over for tea. She knows what she believes and is consistent. Lisa Samson writes beautifully, and I have enjoyed all of her works. I am looking forward to book three of this series, Crimson Skies, which will finalize the last characters life and love. Lisa often writes about heros and heroines' who aren't the perfect fashion model, but the beauty and strength within makes them beautiful on the outside.

    I LOVED IT!!!!!

Whenever I pick up a novel by Lisa Samson, I know that I am not going to be disappointed. The same is true with 'Fields of Gold'. Once again I was captivated by her main characters, plots, and settings. Each character came to life as I read each chapter and the mystery build as the book progressed... I LOVED seeing a character from the previous 'Indigo Waters' change and grow and ultimately come to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour... This is a great read and I HIGHLY recommend it!

    Not your usual romance novel

Miranda Wallace isn't beautiful. A large birthmark eclipses half of her face, but the beauty of her tender heart more than makes up for her disfigurement. When Lord Tobin Youngblood comes to the castle Greywalls where Miranda is employed as his neice's governess, Miranda finally learns to appreciate that God has a definition of beauty all of His own. But will Youngblood, a composer and a lover of beauty, find such a lesson impossible? And will Miranda and Elspeth show him that true beauty comes from a heart yielded to God? The second in the 'Shades of Eternity' series, 'Fields of Gold' takes up where 'Indigo Waters' left off. David Youngblood, wanted for the murders of Armand and Collette de Courcey, is a fugitive. Can he fell the house of the terrible Claude Mirreault in exchange for his life?
