Overview

This would be easier if I were writing about someone else. Then I could change it, fatten up the thin parts and leave out the dull ones, turning them twice like frayed collars and cuffs, making them over into something more romantic than they really were, but then the remembering would be neither so painful, nor so sweet. Overview

This would be easier if I were writing about someone else. Then I could change it, fatten up the thin parts and leave out the dull ones, turning them twice like frayed collars and cuffs, making them over into something more romantic than they really were, but then the remembering would be neither so painful, nor so sweet. I suppose you can't have one without the other . . .

Evangeline Glennon knows plenty about life's highs and lows. Still, she feels lucky, surrounded as she is by people who care deeply: Papa, who's never lost his Irish brogue or the twinkle in his eye; endlessly practical, generous Mama; and steadfast best friend Ruby. Romance would be too much for a girl like Eva to expect. Then again, love has a tendency to find those who aren't looking for it . . .

Out of a clear blue sky, a dashing young aviator makes an impossibly gentle landing in Papa's Oklahoma wheat field. After taking her up in his plane, "Slim" leaves Eva with an exhilarating new perspective-and an even more precious gift that changes her forever.

But that's only the beginning. The world is changing, too-and only the strongest in body and spirit will weather what is to come. Now, while tracing from afar the progress of the brave young barnstormer she knew so briefly, Eva stitches her heart and soul into intricate quilts whose images take extraordinary form from the heartbreak and joy of parallel lives . . .

"A lyrical, lush, and lovely novel from a clever and talented new writer."-Jane Green

"A gripping, heartwarming story . . . complete with fascinating characters and a page-turning plot."-Dorothy Garlock

    Stormblaze's Promise

Maplestar? *Stormblaze, the new deputy mewed* Hmmmn? *murmered Maplestar* Shall we raid Chaosclan? *Stormblaze mewed hopefully* No. *Maplestar snapped* Autumnclan has already lost our former deputy Pebbleheart and Windwing! *Maplestar flattened her ears* I-i- i'm sorry Maplestar! Its just the warriors are itching for revenge. And my apprentice, Furypaw, needs his warrior name. *Stormblaze rambled, changing the subject a little* We will hold his ceremony later today, and we must attack at night. That is what we are know for. *Maplestar mewed grimly* We are doing a raid on their camp?! * Stormblaze mewed, astonished* Yes. Now gather the warriors for Furypaw's ceremony. *Maplestar mewed as she padded out of the den* Ok! *Stormblaze quickly rushed out of the den and went to get Furypaw* Furypaw! Your warrior ceremony is about to start! *Stormblaze mewed urgently* Now?! *Furypaw scrabbled out of his nest with moss clinging to his pelt* Yes, soon enough! *Stormblaze hissed* Ok. *Furypaw mewed and cleaned up his pelt quickly* Let all cats old enough to hunt gather underneth High Rock! *Maplestar yowled* Lets go. *Stormblaze mewed and padded out with Furypaw* Are you ready? *She whispered to him* Yes.*Furypaw's whisper rang with confidence* Furypaw, you have passed your assessment and now ready to become a full warrior. Furypaw, please step forward. *Maplestar said proudly to her son* *Furypaw stepped foward* Do you accept the Warrior Code and being a warrior for your clan, even at the cost of your life? *Maplestar mewed* I do. *Furypaw mewed confidently and clearly* From this day forward, you will now be known as Furyheart. *Maplestar mewed with happiness shining in her gaze* Furyheart! Furyheart! *Stormblaze yowled happily* *Furyheart licked his leader and mothers shoulder respectfully* (Shall i go on?)

    Darkdream's Twisted Past (Prologue)

The full moon hung high in the sky. A muscular brown tom flicked his tail and led his Clan into the clearing. He bunched up his muscles and leaped onto a large rock. "You're late, Thornstar." A pretty gray tabby she-cat mewed, "My apologies, Stormstar." Thornstar mewed. "Now, let The Gathering begin!" A ginger tom with black stripes announced. "You first, Froststar." Stormstar mewed to the ginger tom. He nodded and straightened up, "TornadoClan has been doing well. The island has been fresh with crabs and fish. Our warriors Brambleblaze and Jaypelt tracked down the fox and chased it away. We also have three new apprentices, Ashpaw, Robinpaw, and Mistpaw." He paused as the three clans chanted their names. He flicked his tail to silence them. "Thornstar, your turn." He meowed. Thornstar nodded and began to speak, "Prey is running well in RuneClan. Moonflower gave birth to Fawnkit and Redkit." His gaze then grew icy, "We also have a new deputy, Thrushfeather." An ominous silence filled the chearing, "What happened to Darkdream?" Stormstar mewed. "She was young and stong, she couldn't have been killed." She continued. Thornstar shook his head, "No. We had to exile her." Gasps and murmures filled the clearing, "What did she do?" A RockClan apprentice called. Thornstar winced as if recalling a horrible memory, "She murdured Wildheart and tried to murder me." He hissed. Froststar's eyes widened, "Why would Darkdream do that?" He wondered aloud. "She was still grieving over Sandheart, wasn't she?" Stormstar mewed, reminding everyone of Darkdream's mate who had died of greencough. "Yes, she was," Thornstar mewed, "but that gives her no reason to murder Wildheart and attempt to murder me." He said. "Oh, I think I have more than enough reason to try to murder you!" An icy voice mewed. Everyone turned around and saw a beautiful jet-black she-cat with icy blue eyes pad into the clearing. "Darkdream." Thornstar hissed. Darkdream smirked and jumped onto the rock. "So, RuneClan, RockClan, and TornadoClan. You want to know my reason for murder? Fine. Now it's time to tell you MY story. Starting from the begining." (Done :D please tell me if I should continue!!)

Twoleg of the Clans~ Prologue (Read, Rate, and Review please!)

Everything was silent as the moon hung high, scattering it's silvery sheen across the ground. A calm breeze broke through the air, rustling the leaves on trees and bushes alike. Everything was peaceful. But that didn't mean there wasn't anything around.
A figure stepped out into the clearing. It was a cat, her usually golden-orange tabby fur bleached white by the moon. She sat down with an exasperated sigh before gazing up at the sky. There were no stars that night, covered by clouds like a thick blanket of snow covering silver, glowing leaves dappling the ground. Only the moon was visible, like a silver eye of a black cat.
The golden she-cat blinked, hoping for a sign from her warrior ancestors. "Oh, StarClan," she muttered. "So many horrid things have happened to the four Clans of the forest. Too many sudden deaths. Do you have anything to say? Are the Clans of the forest destined to be lost forever?" She waited helplessly for an answer. Only the snow-colored glare of the moon met her eyes.
The she-cat was starting to lose hope when a rustle from the foliage told her someone else was joining her. She turned around to see a silver and black cat, a female like her.
"Silverpaw," she mewed, dipping her head respectfully as the younger she-cat sat beside her.
"Goldenstone, greetings," Silverpaw replied. "What brings you out this time of night? Usually only medicine cats stay out, to try and read signs from StarClan."
"Remember that I used to be a medicine cat, before I decided to quit to have you!" the yellow queen purred, flicking her tail affectionately on the silver she-cat's shoulder. The somber look from Silverpaw swallowed the other cat's enthusiasum immediately. Her expression became serious again. "Actually, I'm worried. Not just about our Clan, but all the others as well. So many cats are dying. If this continues, the Clans will be nothing but history." Goldenstone glanced at Silverpaw. The question was out before she could stop it. "Have you- have you recieved any signs from StarClan?"
Silverpaw shook her head, ears twitching in despair. "Not since I went to the Moonflower quarter moon ago. I've always wanted to be a medicine cat, then this happens to me."
Goldenstone sighed. "I was a medicine cat as well, but then I realized the life of a warrior was best for me. Perhaps the same is for you."
Silverpaw suddenly turned on her mother, tail lashing, ears flat against head. "I am destined to be a medicine cat! I will stay this way, and no one will stop me!"
Suddenly, like a a single cloud moved, revealing a bright star. Silverpaw gasped as the light fell on her, making a piercing sensastion cascade througout her body. Pupils dialated, she desperately tried to break her glance from the lone star, to no avail.
Finally, Silverpaw looked away. She glanced at her mother. Her blue eyes were looking at something that wasn't there. Goldenstone thought she was in a whole new world.
Silverpaw spoke. "It was a message from StarClan," she breathed. "A creature, completely opposite of our kind, will save the Clans, and perhaps even give them all a new destiny."
Goldenstone frowned. "B-but only cats have been known to save! How can this creature save us, let alone give us a new destiny?"
Silverpaw shook her head. "I'm just as confused as you are. But-"
Goldenstone interuppted her. "If you think it is right, than it is probably right. This creature will save our Clan. Bu-but what is the creature?"

    A Wonderful Honest Story

The story is so honest and uplifting, you can't help but be compassionate about all of the characters. Even through grief and somewhat torment of the heart, every page is turned begging for more. I love this book, and I can't wait for another book from Marie Bostwick

    I loved this book!

Why did it have to end? What a great story! I loved all the characters, they just seemed so real to me. The setting really was small town America - with all the happiness, struggles and joy of that time and place. The plot kept me very engaged. It was hard to put down (if it hadn't been my turn to carpool I probably wouldn't have) and the story was over much too soon. Read this book! You won't regret it!

Finally, A Well-Written, Fresh and Intriguing New Novel

It is so easy to rush through Fields of Gold, but don't or you'll miss the richness of the language, the intimate details of the lives of the characters, and the nuances of the plot. I loved every minute of Fields of Gold and eagerly await this new novelist's second book.

    A story

Flowerkit laied besiedher brother. Her mother Seedfur was the Clan medicen cat. Since medicen cats were not aloud to have kits, Seedfur was kicked out if the Clan to live a life as a loner. She and her brother Blazekit had been adopted by Moonfrost the only queen in FrostClan. She curled up into Moonfrost's warm belly fur and fell asleep.

Moons passed and her and Blazepaw were soon made apprentices. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneth High Stone for a Clan meeting!" Skystars meow rang through the camp. Flowerpaw bolted out of the apprentices den and to the foot of High Stone. "Come on slow slug!" She called to her brother. He pad out and sat beside her. The Clan begain to gather. Moonfrost pad up to them and groomed their fur. Blazepaw stoped her but Flowwrpaw was to excited to stop her. When she was done Skystar lept down. "Blazepaw, u have trained hard and u deserve your warrior name. Blazepaw do you promis to uphold the warrior code even at the cost of your life?" "I do." He meowed. "Then from this day foward you shall be known as Blazepelt. StarClan honores your stenth and brazeness." She purred and chanted her brother warrior name. Skystar turned to herand meowed. "Flowerpaw do you promis to uphold the warrior code even at the cost of your life?" "I do." I meow. "Then from this day foward you shall be known as Flowerpetal." Flowerpetal! Flowerpetal! The Clan cheered. "As a coustom you must sit a silent vilge and watch over the Clan. The Clan meeting is over. Return to your duties. Skystar pad into her dden and her and her brother Blazepelt begain to sit vigel.

Dawn passed and soon night fell. A flash of russet colored fur flashed. She blinked and it was gone. She saw it again and pad towards it. She folled it to the edge of the terrorty. Sudendly a fox lunged at her. She ran across the border into no Clans terrory. The fox chased her and soon cought up to her. It grabed her and raked its claws down her side. Blood pooled from the wound and she lay limp. The fox soon got bored and went away. She lay their bleeding. - i am going to die.- she thought. To weak to call for help she closed her eyes. All of a sudden she felt paws smear a politicen on her wounds. She saw a cat that she dident reconised. "W-who are you?..." she asked hoarsely. "Just rest." The cats meow was gental but ferm. She closed her eyes and slept. She woke up in a cave, in a soft nest lined with feathers. The cat pad over to her and she finnaly saw who she was. "Seedfur...." she whispered.
