Overview

Seeing red? It could be the cape…or the passion.

Libby Gunderson drops everything—her college classes, her personal trainer job—to fly to Spain. Her mission: convince her sister that marrying a gypsy matador would be a huge mistake.

She finds an unexpected ally in Santos Aragon, one of Spain’s most popular bullfighters. She just never thought she’d end up using her kinesiology skills to help him recover from a knee injury. All that up-close-and-personal time has her looking for a Spanish fan to cool off.

Marriage and a family of his own? Santos is too busy with his career and looking after his father’s other children to consider it. When a mirror flash blinds him in the ring, the resulting injury risks his ability to provide for them—and he suspects someone did it deliberately.

Libby’s hands-on therapy sessions explode into a flash fire of need, bonding them in passion and danger. But Libby’s life is across the sea. And Santos must decide if his true heart is in the ring…or with the woman who must soon board a plane for home.

Warning: Contains hot sex, life-threatening danger, and men who challenge death for sport.

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Conn’s next offering after Fierce Love brings readers back to Barcelona, a city known for culture and passion and where Libby Gunderson arrives for her half-sister’s wedding. The plan is to talk Maggie out of marrying a man their family hardly knows, but Maggie’s half-brother, famous matador Santos Aragon, proves to be too much of a distraction. There is no question that Libby and Santos are hot for each other, and fortunately their short-lived romance has the opportunity to last the summer when Santos, who was injured in the ring after a fan held up a mirror that momentarily blinded him, hires Libby as his physical therapist. But whoever has a grievance against Santos escalates the threats that endanger the whole family, and Santos might do whatever it takes to protect Libby, even if it breaks her heart.

Verdict It will take a moment for readers to wrap their brain around Libby and Santos not being related, even though they share a half-sister. Once they get past that, they will be drawn into a story that is both sexy and big on family relationships. Conn’s characters are brilliantly developed, and the plot is layered enough to keep readers in its grip.—Kara Kohn, Plainfield P.L., IL

—Library Journal on Fierce Pride

“Fierce passion is what runs through all aspects of Conn’s novel. Whether the passion is in the things the characters do, their relationships with others or in the bedroom, it is present throughout this page-turning read. Though Conn’s characters are equal parts easy to love as they are challenging, the novel is still worth the time and definitely a pleasure to read.”
—RT Book Reviews on Fierce Love

“In this emotionally gripping and gritty novel, Ms. Conn creates a tale that keeps the pages turning. It’s emotional, thrilling, and has characters that the reader will enjoy.”
