Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Sources for soccer records abound in print and on the Internet, but Radnedge's (The Complete Encyclopedia of Soccer) FIFA volume is attractive, highly illustrated, and reasonably priced. Published for the third straight year, it covers the international soccer competitions between FIFA nations, dealing with national records more than the players. Brief vignettes, however, highlight players and individual matches, and leading goal scorers and players with the most international competitions are listed. There is an extensive section on World Cup records as well as other championships such as the UEFA European Championship and the Africa Cup of Nations. A section on other FIFA tournaments is useful as is brief coverage of women's play. Two appendixes cover FIFA awards and rankings. VERDICT For the buck, this is an excellent choice. One can find these records online and in other volumes, but not all in one place. This is an ideal reference selection for public and school libraries and a great choice for soccer fans.—Boyd Childress, formerly with Auburn Univ. Libs., AL
