In the thriller "Fifth Avenue," each intermingles within a revered society that is unprepared for what's in store for it when one man finally strikes in an effort to destroy another man for murdering his wife thirty-one years ago.

Louis Ryan is that man. George Redman, his wife, two daughters and their close friends are his targets. Both men are self-made billionaires who came from nothing to stake their claim to Fifth Avenue. But when Louis Ryan hires an international assassin to literally rip the Redman family apart, a series of events that can't be stopped catapults them all through a fast-paced, hard-edged thriller in which nobody is safe.

Secrets are revealed. The Mafia get involved. And George's two daughters, Celina and Leana Redman, come to the forefront. Fifth Avenue - Highly Recommended

Fifth Avenue. A big big novel. A blockbuster? Yes. A bestseller. It should be. The author, at the beginning of the novel, thanks the people who introduced him to the 'real' Fifth Avenue. I suspect the real one could not be as interesting or engrossing as this novel. When I say this is a big novel, it is because the author takes the time to introduce each character in detail. You know what the character looks like and have an idea of their motivation, so even with many people in the novel one is never lost or confused. This is done subtly. The descriptions are not tedious, but done with skill, entwined in the story. Two movers and shakers on Fifth Avenue, men with a thirty year old vendetta. A nasty business deal, and then allegations of murder. No one is spared. Not the employees, and certainly not the close relatives, who are used or ignored: all for the glory of winning all the chips, all the power and all the money. The author takes us to the inner workings of the intricate deals, in several countries, worth billions in profit. These men are high stakes gamblers. But he also takes us to the poor soup kitchens of New York. There are clubs where illegal drugs and sex are performed. There are Mafia dons, who have a type of lethal loyalty to their friends, Las Vegas casinos, and a truly spectacularly sociopathic, scarily effective hired assassin. This is a highly recommended novel. It deserves the five stars

I Could Not Put This Book Down

Sit back and enjoy a novel that's as smooth as "Tennessee Sipping Whiskey." "Fifth Avenue" has more twists and turns than a snake and the plot is more powerful than a mule's kick.

What a read. I read the book in two sittings; I could not put it down. The characters are rich and satisfying, the plot is supercharged and the twists--the twists! They all build up to one hell of an ending. I'm really looking forward to the next one, which he teases at the end of the book. A great job from one talented writer. If I were to sum up "Fifth Avenue" in one word? Wow!

    Absolutely loved it!

This is a big, big book filled with delicious twists and turns. It reminds me something of Dynasty, when it was big on television, but it's too contemporary for that. The writing is smooth, the characters are well-developed and interesting (what happens to a few characters literally blew me away), and the ending is really satisfying. I can't believe I got this book for free. I easily would have paid $9.95 for it. The time and care that went into the complex plot are apparent. And the plot is complex. There are a lot of characters, but the writing is so good, you're never confused. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes an edgy thriller. Oh, and as for the sex scenes some people have complained about here, get real. There's only one, it's brief and it adds completely to the plot. Loved the book!

    Money, greed, revenge

A powerful story about two men who were once business partners and become rivals and arch enemies. In a fit of revenge for the death of his wife, Louis Ryan is out to destroy George Redman and everything Redman holds dear. The book is a fast-paced tale of greed, jealousy, betrayal, revenge, and lots and lots of money. I recommend this as an adult-only read due to lots of violence and a few graphic sex scenes. The ending was a bit of a let-down, almost too merry and somewhat predictable. The book includes bonus material for a second work due out this year. Hitman Vincent Spocatti will again make an appearance in the next book. I'll be looking forward to reading it.

Warning - Extremely Graphic Violent Fetish Sex Scenes

I've read thrillers all my life and have never stumbled on the kind of scenes that I read in this book. The writing is cliched, the characters are all angry and naive, and there is not one reason to like this book.
This self published author would have done a favor to himself and readers to advise buyers that there might be objectionable content to people who do not like lengthy descriptions of violent fetish sex.

Excellent Thriller! Couldn't put it down!

What's with the two on-star reviews about the sex in this book? There's a brief scene of six paragraphs in what's an otherwise huge book, but that's it, and I didn't find it that racy. Certainly I've read far worse. I suspect some pious people are trying to keep readers away from this book for those few paragraphs, but that's a shame because this novel deserves to be noticed. "Fifth Avenue" is an outstanding thriller, and one I never would have found without it being offered for free. I loved the twists and the turns. I loved that it harkened back to the days of the old Sidney Sheldon, when everything was bigger than life. I enjoyed its scathing and insightful depictions of New York society, and especially how they are brought down by one vicious villain. And I loved Leana! The surprises in this book are many and they are satisfying. I'm now off to read Smith's new book, "Running of the Bulls," because I'm happy to have found a talented new writer.

    Loved it!

Why are people complaining about the sex in this book? It's a matter of a few paragraphs, and that's it. Anyway, I loved this book. A true page turner with a motherlode of twists and turns. The characters were well-written and in one particular twist, which I won't reveal here, I was expecting the author to go for the cliche and worm himself out of it because it literally would change the course of the book. But he didn't! And the book got even better because of it. The was the first book I read on my new Nook and it was a winner. Highly recommended.

    A Definate MUST READ!

Fifth Avenue is non-stop suspense involving greed, revenge, betrayal, disappointment, and love. Christopher Smith cleverly weaves the characters lives together making you love, hate, laugh, cry, and fear for their lives. It's a gripping novel you will find difficult to set down and even harder to forget. I can't wait to read more from Smith.

    Not what I expected!

The storyline could have been better if they left out the sex stuff, they book says "A Thriller" as in mystery i assumed but some times if felt like a romance novel. Also I did not like the ending, the ending was boring.

I loved this book! Even though it was a big book, I flew through it because I couldn' t put it down. I couldn't guess what would happen next, not ever. I liked most of the characters and even the nasty ones were really interesting. No character was shallow or stupid. This is one I'll remember for a long time.
