This is a fun read for girls! It has the fantasy of time travel, the reality of friendship woes, and some historical fiction to top it all off. The author has a hit with this second book in the Fifties Chix  series. I am looking forward to reading book 3!

Although written for middle-schoolers, I enjoyed it, too! The plot is creative and the well-written characters drew me in. I quickly began to care about what would happened to them in their "new" lives.

Larsen has a good feel for young girls and what they go through. When she takes her characters out of their comfort zones, she makes sure the positive qualities remain. Do they argue? Yes. Do they have doubts? Yes. Do they struggle with relationships and hormones? Yes. But through it all we see the strength of character and abiding friendship of these young women. Larsen shows that each of us is unique. We have our own individual gifts (in this case, art, baseball, sewing, writing, performing) and it's important (and satisfying) to share them.

I also enjoyed the way she incorporated history and popular culture (current and 1950's) in a way that is entertaining but also sneakily educational.

Like a previous reviewer, I was a bit startled by the abrupt ending, but not offended by it. The book is so enjoyable I WANT to read what happens next. The hook isn't really needed.

"Travel to Tomorrow" will be enjoyed by young girls (and some young boys), but also by their parents and grandparents. It makes a great gift.
